Biochemistry - School of Medicine

Job Description

The Department of Biochemistry is seeking a Business Services Consultant to play a vital administrative role in ensuring effective financial management and compliance with grant policies. This position oversees both pre-award and post-award grant activities in collaboration with the School of Medicine (SOM), College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources (CAFNR), and the University Office of Sponsored Programs Administration (OSPA). The role requires independent oversight of grant processes, financial analysis, and strategic reporting to support departmental leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage pre-award and post-award grant activities in coordination with SOM, CAFNR, and OSPA.
- Independently handle the initial post-award grant notice and ensure accurate financial tracking.
- Develop, maintain, and distribute departmental reports related to financial projections and grant compliance.
- Monitor all grant transactions to ensure adherence to sponsor award guidelines.
- Calculate appointment splits, set up payroll, and process Personnel Change Events (PCEs).
- Calculate and distribute faculty salary savings and Facilities & Administrative (F&A) Return funds.
- Provide financial projections and strategic advisement to the Department Chair, Manager, and faculty based on University and sponsor regulations.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with various stakeholders.

Shift

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $52,915.20 - $68,161.60 annually
Grade: GGS - 9E
