Director for Tutoring and Academic Services & Associate Director, Jeffries Center The Jeffries Center Job Summary Under the administrative direction of the Executive Director, responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the Tutoring and Academic Services component of the Academic Service Program (ASP) of the Michael L. Jeffries, Sr. Center for Access and Academic Success (The Jeffries Center) including but not limited to developing, implementing, overseeing, and evaluating academic and retention services that increase and sustain retention, achievement and persistence for students participating in tutoring and academic services. Minimum Qualifications Master’s degree in education or from a discipline appropriate for administering a comprehensive, collegiate academic support services center. At least four (4) years of full-time professional experience designing, implementing, or supervising collegiate academic support services, mentoring, academic coaching, learning assistance, advising, tutoring, or related retention services. A high degree of initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision. Demonstrate strong collaborative, problem solving, and planning skills. Supervisory/managerial experience. An understanding of learning theory and academic support strategies and services. Experience designing, implementing, evaluating/assessing academic student success programs (e.g., Tutoring, advising, mentoring, academic support services, supplemental instruction, Federal TRIO Program, first-year experiences). Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff, and students in programming efforts and University committee participation. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to competently assess students’ needs and provide appropriate learning assistance. Experience working with first-generation, low-income, TRIO, EOP, U.S. historically underrepresented, or academically underserved individuals at the college level with dedication to student success, providing student-centered services and University student retention efforts. Additional Physical Demands This is a security-sensitive position required to pass an extensive criminal background check. This position requires some evening and occasional weekend duties. Travel Requirements 5% Travel for Conferences, Recruitment, and work with peer institutions may be required. Appointment Information This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 8/11/2025. Salary is $75,000.00.
