SUMMARY/OBJECTIVES

The Controls Monitoring Lead Analyst plays a critical role in the execution and oversight of enterprise-wide control monitoring and assurance activities. This role supports the Senior Controls Assurance and Monitoring Manager by leading complex control testing activities, enhancing monitoring strategies, and providing subject matter expertise across risk domains.The role combines operational execution with strategic oversight, ensuring that risk mitigation efforts are both effective and aligned with regulatory expectations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Development and oversight of formalized processes and procedures that will enhance the overall consistency of control identification and monitoring.

  • Design and implement control testing strategies to support the Company's Enterprise Risk Framework and associated programs, risk assessments and regulatory requirements.

  • Apply advanced sampling methodologies and data analysis techniques to evaluate control performance across business units.

  • Identify control gaps, assess root causes, and recommend actionable remediation strategies.

  • Act as a key advisor to the Senior Controls Assurance and Monitoring Manager on testing methodologies, control design, and risk themes.

  • Contribute to the development of enterprise-wide monitoring frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across risk, compliance, and business functions to align control testing with broader risk management goals.

  • Synthesize testing results into clear, concise reports for senior leadership and other stakeholders.

  • Communicate findings with clarity and confidence, offering credible challenge and practical recommendations.

  • Track remediation progress and support issue validation activities related to control failures.

  • Drive special projects related to control enhancement, automation, or regulatory readiness.

  • Represent the control monitoring function in cross-functional working groups and initiatives.

COMPETENCIES

  • Proven experience executing Operational Risk controls testing, Compliance testing, or Internal Audit frameworks.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Proven ability to influence decision-making and drive accountability across stakeholder groups.

  • Strong understanding of internal control frameworks, risk assessment techniques, and regulatory compliance requirements.

  • Strong organizational skills or project management experience

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with mid to senior level management, other internal clients, peers, and audit.

Qualifications, Education, and Certification Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor of Arts or Science in Finance/Accounting, Business, or related field

  • Experience: 6+ years of experience with previous Risk Management and/or Internal Audit experience in banking preferred.

  • Certifications/Specific Knowledge: Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience with Governance Risk and Control (GRC) applications.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS/CLASSES

Required annual compliance training, New Employee Orientation; 40 hours of annual risk based training

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Must be able to effectively access and interpret information on computer screens, documents, reports, and cash denominations, and identify customers. This position requires a large amount of time in front of a computer. This can be done sitting or standing with use of the right desk.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

For telecommuters or hybrid: Telecommuting roles no matter if hybrid or 100% full time telecommuting must have a secure home office environment that is free from background noise and distractions. They must also have a reliable private internet connection that is not supplied by use of cellular data (hot spot). Cable or fiber connections are preferred. Requirements are subject to change, as new systems and technology is delivered.

TRAVEL

Travel may be required to come to meetings as needed.

In accordance with Colorado law: Colorado pay for this position is anticipated to be between $85,153.00 - $136,024.00 , actual offers to be determined based on applicant's skills, experience and education.
