Job Description

SUMMARY
Proof of US citizenship, nationality, and/or permanent resident status in order to comply with all applicable export and import laws and regulations.

The Human Resource Generalist will support the development and delivery of the HR strategies to advance business objectives and provide high quality HR services for TIMET Ravenswood.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Assist in union avoidance efforts to remain union free through positive employee interaction and open communication.
Works closely with the Human Resource Manager to establish and achieve annual goals for the Human Resources Department.
Participates in and supports preventive maintenance training of supervisors about unions, the proper way to deal with employees, and how to avoid employee relations errors.
Administer and monitor site attendance control guidelines for consistent application of guidelines
Administer the review and update of all job descriptions annually in conjunction with performance appraisal process
Respond to / and answer employee questions and inquiries. Coordinates and responds to the employee suggestions via the suggestion box.
Supports a broad range of tasks including resolving complaints, counseling managers and employees on the interpretation of policies and procedures
Supports the investigation and responds to allegations or complaints regarding harassment or work environment issues and recommend appropriate corrective action.
Assist in formulating, recommending and administering HR policies.
Assists in employee relations counseling and exit interview process
Communicates policies to facilitate a common understanding and consistent application throughout the facility.
Assist in developing and maintaining affirmative action program; files EEO-1 report annually; maintains other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
Respond to employee complaints and concerns.
Prepare new and revise old job descriptions as needed for all classes of employees. Classify according to applicable system
Maintenance of relevant information in SAP
Assist in the development of recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels
Provide initial internal applicant screening to obtain work history, education, training, job skills and salary requirements, refer qualified applicants to hiring manager for interview
Act as liaison with area employment agencies, preparation and liaison with classified advertising, processing and checking classified advertising billings, liaison with temporary agencies, recording status of authorized positions, employment verifications, employee referral program
Support / administer internal job posting program
Maintain Applicant Tracking System
Maintenance of required postings (compliance)
Responsible for recruiting, screening, testing of hourly production and plant level hourly and salaried employees; coordinates internal postings of open positions, administer all job progression testing for employees
Processes and tracks employment applications and assists in other employment activities as directed
Assists with open enrollment planning, preparation, roll-out procedures and provides on-going support to employee benefit inquiries. Helps employee resolve benefits disputes and makes proactive improvement recommendations to Human Resource Manager as they are identified

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Human Resources Management or related field, 3+ years of HR experience, manufacturing background a plus, experience in employee relations and recruitment a plus; a desire for continual learning and advancement; demonstrated competence in thinking strategically, analytically, conceptually, and innovatively; handle multiple tasks concurrently and work effectively in a fast paced environment with constantly changing priorities; excellent communication (verbal and written), organization, problem resolution, and presentation skills; computer skills, including all MS Office applications, excellent structured organization skills; honesty and integrity as key values; ability to maintain confidentiality, flexible and professional approach to duties; able to evidence having dealt with confidential and sensitive issues.

SPECIAL SKILLS
HRIS databases - SAP experience.
HR certification (PHR) a plus
Union avoidance experience a plus
