Job Summary:
The Center for Robotics and Biosystem (https://robotics.northwestern.edu/) at Northwestern University is seeking a full-time robotics Research Engineer. The Research Engineer will run the makerspace facility; assist in teaching the Robot Design Studio course sequence; provide training and consultation for faculty and students; and participate in sponsored research projects within the center
Specific Responsibilities:
- Run the CRB makerspace facility, including maintaining and upgrading equipment and robots, purchasing, training students, and ensuring safety.
- Assist in teaching the Robot Design Studio course sequence and mentoring MS in Robotics student projects.
- Participate in sponsored research and proposal preparation and provide research consultation to faculty and staff, including for the "HAND ERC" with "US National Science Foundation HAND Engineering Research Center
- Tours, public outreach, and other duties as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 2+ years experience and BS in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
- The applicant should have significant experience in practical robot system development, with some or all of the following skills:
- CAD, mechanical prototyping, and rapid prototyping
- electromechanical design, including actuator, transmission, and sensor selection
- electronics design
- real-time control and filtering
- embedded computing
- fluency in C, C++, Python, and MATLAB
- familiarity with the Robot Operating System (ROS)
Target hiring range for this position will be between $78,482-$110,365 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data
