National Grid is hiring a Senior Software Engineer position. This is a hybrid opportunity based out of Syracuse, Brooklyn, NY, or Waltham, MA.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer with 8+ years of experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will design and implement robust security using open source and/or innovative techniques in conjunction with leading network security architects.

Key Accountabilities
  • Security Measures Implementation: Develop, execute, and monitor security measures to protect information, network infrastructure, and computer systems.
  • Cybersecurity Architecture: Design and engineer a comprehensive cybersecurity architecture tailored to our specific needs.
  • System Security Requirements: Identify, define, and document system security requirements; recommend solutions to management based on these findings.
  • Security Infrastructure Maintenance: Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain security infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Security Monitoring: Install and manage software for monitoring systems and networks for security breaches and intrusions. Monitor systems for irregular behavior and implement preventive measures.
  • Security Strategy Development: Plan, develop, implement, and update the company's information security strategy.
  • Staff Training: Educate and train staff on information system security best practices.
  • Data Encryption: Implement robust encryption protocols for protecting data both in transit and at rest.
  • Access Management: Establish granular controls over user permissions and access using comprehensive Identity and Access Management (IAM) practices.
  • Cloud Security: Apply security controls and utilize tools like CloudTrail and CloudMapper to secure cloud infrastructure.
  • Proactive Monitoring: Implement vigilant monitoring systems to detect and respond to threats and anomalies.
  • Asset Management: Ensure structured asset management and governance practices are in place.
  • Vulnerability Management: Regularly assess and mitigate vulnerabilities within cloud and network infrastructure.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry regulations and compliance standards.
  • Incident Response: Establish and maintain comprehensive incident response plans.
  • Blast Radius Mitigation: Deploy measures to minimize the impact and scope of potential security incidents.
  • Disaster Recovery implementation for Grid network systems, with configuration and manage tools for disaster recovery, high availability and resilience.
Qualifications
  • Education: 4-year college degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer an academic background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related technical field.
  • 8+ years of technical contribution in a structured team environment
  • Familiar with OT protocols such as DNP3, ICCP and IEC61850
  • Familiar with SDN
  • Professional certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in network security and information security roles.
  • Profound knowledge of modern network security technologies and protocols.
  • Expertise in cloud security, IAM, encryption protocols, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with IIoT and OT is a huge plus
  • Familiarity with various industrial electrical concepts is a huge plus

Salary

Syracuse: $111k - $131k a year

Brooklyn: $134k - $158k a year

Waltham: $125k - $147k a year

This position has a career path which provides for advancement opportunities within and across bands as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. Candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.
