Your Opportunity + Impact

The Project Accountant will provide analytical support to operating division teams and division leaders. This position serves as the primary Finance and Accounting contact for designated operating divisions and is responsible for providing clear financial data to guide divisional leaders' business decisions. The Project Accountant is responsible for proactively tracking, measuring, and reporting on project performance metrics within the designated operating divisions they serve. Proper completion of tasks will ultimately ensure the accurate, complete, and timely recording of division transaction information in the general ledger.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitates project performance reviews, analyzes project financial data, and proactively makes recommendations.
  • Enforces project risk management procedures and alerts division leadership about areas of non-compliance.
  • Coordinates Project Review Meetings and Financial Review Meetings.
  • Assists with Special Project Assignment and manages Project Performance Analytics.
  • Processes Compensation Change Reports.
  • Facilitates expense reviews and posting procedures.
  • Oversees FAR Compliance, initial Review of Expense Accounts and assists with audit data collection.
  • Serves as Invoicing Back-Up (General), Invoicing back-up for clients with additional invoicing steps, and invoicing overall supervision.

Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of five (5) years' experience. Preferred experience with an A/E/S firm.
  • Licensure/Certification: n/a

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (intermediate to advanced level).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills with the flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills with the ability to communicate and interact professionally with clients, vendors, and external partners.
  • Experience with ERP/accounting systems, such as Deltek Vision/Vantagepoint or similar project-based accounting platforms.
  • Familiarity with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation), especially for government or public sector projects.
  • Strong understanding of project budgeting, forecasting, and cost tracking.
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary project teams and collaborating with project managers, finance, and operations.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies proactively.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with discretion.
