Join us as our new Sanitation Technician Reporting to the Sanitation Supervisor, the Sanitation Technician is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of all equipment, production areas, and facilities in a dietary supplement manufacturing environment. The role involves maintaining compliance with FDA regulations, 21 CFR Part 111 (Current Good Manufacturing Practices for Dietary Supplements), and company policies to support the production of safe, high-quality products.
In this role, you'll make an impact by:
- Cleaning and Sanitization:
- Performing cleaning and sanitization of manufacturing equipment, utensils, and work areas in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Disassembling and reassembling equipment as necessary for thorough cleaning.
- Using approved cleaning agents, sanitizers, and methods to ensure compliance with FDA regulatory standards.
- Inspection and Documentation:
- Conducting pre- and post-cleaning inspections to ensure cleanliness of equipment and facilities.
- Maintaining detailed cleaning logs and records as required by 21 CFR Part 111 and cGDP (Current Good Documentation Practices).
- Assisting in environmental monitoring and swab testing when applicable by supporting additional or ad-hoc cleanings where required.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Following all cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) requirements related to cleaning and sanitation.
- Ensuring compliance with FDA regulations and internal quality standards.
- Adhering to safety protocols when handling cleaning chemicals and operating equipment.
- Facility Maintenance:
- Performing general housekeeping tasks to maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility.
- Helping ensure proper waste disposal procedures are followed.
- Monitoring and replenishing cleaning supplies as needed.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Working closely with Quality Assurance (QA) and Production teams to ensure cleaning schedules align with production needs.
- Reporting any issues related to equipment, cleaning processes, or facility conditions to supervisors.
- Participating in training sessions related to sanitation, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identifying opportunities for improving cleaning processes and suggest enhancements.
- Staying updated on new cleaning technologies, techniques, and regulatory changes.
To succeed you must hold:
- High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional training in sanitation or food safety is a plus.
- Prior experience in sanitation within a food, pharmaceutical, or dietary supplement manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge of cGMP, 21 CFR Part 111, and FDA regulatory requirements is a strong advantage.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow strict sanitation protocols.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Basic mechanical knowledge to disassemble and reassemble equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Conditions Working environment is generally favorable. Work schedule, lighting, temperature, and noise levels are adequate. Frequent entry into the production facility requires personal protective equipment to be worn at all times. This includes a lab coat, hair/beard net, safety glasses, and gloves. Work schedule is mainly weekend shift but may involve work on other shifts as part of overtime.
Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, use hands to finger, handle or touch objects, keyboard and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
