IT Vendor Relationship Manager

Role Overview:
The IT Vendor Relationship Manager is a key leader within the IT Vendor Management Office (VMO), responsible for managing strategic vendor partnerships and driving cost optimization through effective contract strategy and execution. This role works ahead of Global Sourcing to shape and negotiate contracts and collaborates closely with them on renewals to ensure business continuity, spend efficiency, and value delivery from IT vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead vendor strategy, sourcing, and contract lifecycle management across key IT categories (software, services, infrastructure, cloud).
  • Develop and execute proactive contract negotiation strategies that reduce costs, improve service, and mitigate risk.
  • Partner closely with Global Sourcing, Legal, Finance, and IT leadership to align on goals, timing, and execution plans.
  • Build strong vendor relationships and manage performance against SLAs and KPIs; conduct regular vendor performance reviews.
  • Track upcoming renewals and manage timelines and strategy for renegotiation or vendor change.
  • Maintain a forward-looking view of vendor landscapes, tech trends, and market benchmarks to inform sourcing decisions.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, compliance, and contract repository hygiene.
  • Support cross-functional project teams with contract strategy during technology evaluations and implementation planning.
  • Facilitate workshops and communication plans to align internal stakeholders on sourcing goals and vendor outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 5 years of experience in sourcing, vendor management, or contract negotiation (IT-specific experience highly preferred).
  • Demonstrated success leading sourcing strategies with measurable cost and value impact.
  • Strong knowledge of IT contract structures, licensing models, and risk/compliance considerations.
  • Proven ability to build consensus and influence across functions and leadership levels.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Experience working in global environments with low-cost geographies and distributed teams a plus.
