The Director, Membership leads SAE International's membership strategy, ensuring alignment with SAE's mission to advance mobility knowledge and solutions. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive membership recruitment, retention, and engagement. The Director oversees SAE's Corporate Member Councils, local sections, student chapters, and community management to create a robust and engaged global membership network.

Job Summary

The Director, Membership leads SAE International's membership strategy, ensuring alignment with SAE's mission to advance mobility knowledge and solutions. This role is responsible for developing and executing strategies that drive membership recruitment, retention, and engagement. The Director oversees SAE's Corporate Member Councils, local sections, student chapters, and community management to create a robust and engaged global membership network.

Essential Functions:

  • Develop and implement SAE's membership strategy to support professional, corporate, and student members.
  • Oversee corporate membership programs and engagement, ensuring high-value partnerships with leading organizations.
  • Lead Corporate Member Councils, ensuring strategic alignment with industry priorities.
  • Support the transition of student members into professional SAE membership through university engagement.
  • Strengthen and support local SAE sections to drive regional member engagement.
  • Develop and expand membership-related products and services that align with industry and academic interests.
  • Oversee SAE's awards, scholarships, and recognition initiatives to honor contributions to the mobility industry.
  • Monitor and analyze membership trends and data to continuously refine engagement strategies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Communications, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven leadership experience in membership strategy, professional association management, or stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience managing industry partnerships and corporate relationships.
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and project management skills.
  • Proficiency in CRM platforms (Salesforce preferred).
  • Ability to work collaboratively with industry professionals, executives, and volunteers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience with lifecycle marketing, member segmentation, and digital engagement strategy.
  • Background in professional associations or technical societies preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid work environment with core collaboration hours.
  • Up to 20% travel for member engagement, strategic meetings, and conferences.
