Test and Calibration Supervisor

At Endress+Hauser, progress happens by working together. As the global leader in measurement instrumentation, our ~17,000 employees shape the future in the field of process automation. Whether developing and realizing new technology as a team, collaborating to build instrumentation, or strengthening vital relationships with countless global industries, we work to create trusted relationships that help everyone thrive. As a family-owned company, we look beyond short-term moves and work to create a vision that is forward-thinking for our people, our clients, and the world at large.

We are looking for a Test and Calibration Supervisor to join Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis, the global leader in Raman spectroscopy, tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS), and quenched fluorescence (QF) instrumentation for laboratory, process, and manufacturing environments. Our laser-based analyzer systems perform high-performance chemical composition and concentration measurement of all phases of matter in any installation environment.

What is the role about?
The Test and Calibration Supervisor, reporting to the Manager of Manufacturing, is responsible for managing a team of test technicians, providing direction for the testing and calibration of precision laser-based spectroscopic analytical analyzers for a variety of natural gas and petrochemical industries.

Which essential functions will you perform?

  • Manage and motivate a dynamic team of test technicians to include training, development and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing personnel in a systematic planning atmosphere to achieve operational goals.
  • Accelerate production processes through organizing and initiating LEAN manufacturing philosophies and process improvement solutions.
  • Transfer test methodologies and designs from R&D into production by taking slow, complex and exacting R&D manual calibration and test methods and translating these into high-speed, simple and robust processes for production personnel to execute. You work directly with these groups to determine and establish acceptable production specifications.
  • Create and implement automated test and calibration hardware and software that operates in a production environment with complete procedures for test technicians.
  • Identify technician and operator development needs through training matrix and create development plans to provide opportunities for growth and retention.
  • Monitor and ensure that technicians are working in a safe manner and are following all health, safety and regulatory standards.
  • Provide hands-on production floor support for test technicians on existing test setups and production equipment under test. Work with R&D, Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to resolve problems when found and prepare root cause analysis. Work with Manufacturing Engineering design to implement permanent solutions in the appropriate areas in manufacturing and/or test.
  • Create maintenance plan for each calibration station in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering. Execute maintenance plans on the regular basis as required.
  • Manage gas inventory for Test and Calibration in collaboration with Purchasing and Warehouse teams.
  • Periodically work directly with customers and sales reps during factory visits and factory acceptance tests.
  • Provide continuous improvement to existing test and calibration methods that result in improved calibration accuracy, increased test coverage, higher throughput and simpler operation for test technicians.

The duties above describe the general nature and level of work being performed in this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties; additional responsibilities may be assigned, as required, by management.

What do we expect from you?
