Campus Security Officer (Part-time)

Under general direction from the Director Campus Security assist with all security functions, including; Patrolling, Investigations, Monitoring the security camera system and Responding to calls for service. Act as a liaison between WCTC and its staff, students and general public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Guarding and patrolling campus property.
2. Investigating accidents, injuries and criminal acts.
3. File required reports relating to illnesses/injuries, investigations, criminal activities, security matters and behavioral incidents.
4. Provide direction to clerical support staff and Student Security Officers as necessary.
5. Interpret and enforce policies and procedures, communicate information, and resolve problems and conflicts.
6. Monitor all security equipment and activate appropriate alarms/notification systems.
7. Collaborate with local Police/Fire units in performance of security activities.
8. Assist with surveillance when needed.
9. Give daily direction and training to Student Security Officers; provide mentoring.
10. Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Aptitude for organization and problem solving.
• Working knowledge of safety and security principles.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with administrative personnel, instructors, students, and the general public.
• Working knowledge of vocational, technical and adult education.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in a discrete and professional manner.
• Familiarity with audio/visual and computer equipment and operations.

1. Previous security/public safety experience preferred.
2. Two years work experience in an educational setting preferred, which has emphasized public contact.
3. Associate's degree in Security or Criminal Justice required, or equivalent work experience.

The Campus Security Officer position is a part-time role, scheduled for 20 hours per week. Hours are flexible and may include shifts Monday through Sunday, based on department needs. The position is available for an immediate start.
Salary
Salary offered will be based on years of credited experience and internal equity.
