Overview

Responsible for coordinating engineering activities on multi-disciplined projects and being the common link between the Engineering team, Operations team, and Engineer of Record. This position is involved from beginning phases through completion of design documents and into the project construction phase to support requests for information (RFIs), change order negotiations, and other engineering construction support activities.

Location: This position can be located at one of our office locations daily: Fargo, ND; Indianapolis, IN; Clinton, IN; or Phoenix, AZ.

The MasTec Renewables market sector is part of the MasTec Clean Energy & Infrastructure business segment. Responsibilities

    Promote and comply with all Company safety policies and procedures
  • Support the implementation of industry best practices with a mindset of continuous improvement
  • Act as an Industry Representative for the company
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills in interactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the Preconstruction Team during contract negotiations
  • Assist in preparation of the project schedule, evaluation of subcontractor bids and negotiate contract with Engineering Consultants
  • Monitor engineering deliverable schedule to ensure the project schedule stays on track
  • Collect and organize questions from Team and Subcontractors to be presented to Client via RFIs
  • Manage relationship and partner with Engineer of Record regarding design, concept, and layout of project
  • Participate in subcontractor scope clarification
  • Lead design meetings with multiple the company stake holders, including the company site teams, clients, consultants, suppliers and electric utilities
  • Provide Value Engineering evaluation of conceptual design
  • Review and audit engineering deliverables to ensure compliance with the company and client requirements
  • Prepare Engineering Work Orders for execution with Engineering Consultants
  • Identify and monitor open issues during design phase
  • Track and monitor design progress of engineered drawing deliverables and technical submittals
  • Arrange for Phase I Environmental, Geotechnical, and Topographical evaluations and surveys as required
  • Assure that Reviews and Submittals are conducted timely
  • Coordinate site plan approval efforts and reviews by internal stakeholders through Page-Turn Review meetings
  • Provide contract clarification to determine out-of-scope client requests
  • Assist with change order negotiations with subcontractors, subcontractors, and Engineering consultants
  • Accumulate and document "lessons learned" in central database
  • Travel to project sites as required to foster relationships with project teams, help solve engineering related issues, and understand lessons learned
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in, Engineering or related major or equivalent and direct renewable energy construction experience
  • Professional Engineer certification preferred
  • Five to seven years of Engineering experience with knowledge of construction techniques, estimating and construction management

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Actively support MasTec CE&I's Key Results and lead by example
  • Strong data analysis and advanced problem-solving skills
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and technical documents
  • Understanding of terms, nomenclature and business models used in the construction industry
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels within the organization and with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the Company's Zero Injury principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Primavera, Viewpoint, Procore, InEight, and other Construction Software
  • Write reports, business correspondence and document project activities
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from project managers, construction managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to demonstrate/document past experience leading efforts to identify and evaluate constructability and risk issues, assisting in the preparation of the project schedule, evaluation of subcontractor bids and negotiating contracts with Design Professionals
