Position Summary: The Treasury Accounting Manager will serve as a key technical accounting policy expert, overseeing the accounting, reporting, and compliance for Key's derivative, investment, and debt portfolios. Reporting to the Controller of the Center of Expertise, this role is responsible for interpreting and implementing complex accounting standards, advising on technical accounting matters, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC, and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in financial instruments and derivatives accounting and play a critical role in shaping and maintaining Key's accounting policy framework. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical accounting analysis and application of U.S. GAAP to Key's customer and treasury derivatives, foreign exchange contracts, investment securities, and debt instruments.
- Evaluate and document the accounting implications of new transactions, business strategies, and financial products, ensuring alignment with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on technical accounting issues, providing authoritative guidance to business units, finance teams, and senior leadership.
- Monitor and assess the impact of proposed and newly issued accounting standards (e.g., FASB, SEC, regulatory bodies), and lead the implementation of new guidance across impacted areas.
- Draft and maintain comprehensive accounting position papers and technical memos to support conclusions and facilitate external audit reviews.
- Collaborate with external auditors and accounting firms to validate accounting treatments and resolve complex technical issues.
- Participate in recurring accounting policy meetings, providing updates on technical developments and implementation projects.
- Support the preparation and review of financial disclosures in Key's SEC filings (Forms 10-K and 10-Q), with a focus on financial instruments and derivatives.
- Act as a key contributor to finance-related technology initiatives, ensuring accounting requirements are met and tested appropriately.
- Manage the month-end close process for treasury-related portfolios, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Lead and mentor a team of staff accountants, fostering technical development and continuous improvement in accounting processes.
Qualifications:
- CPA required.
- 6+ years of experience in public accounting or a technical accounting role within a financial institution.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, with a strong emphasis on accounting for financial instruments, derivatives, and fair value measurements.
- Proven experience interpreting and applying complex accounting standards (e.g., ASC 815, ASC 820, ASC 825).
- Strong analytical, research, and documentation skills with the ability to communicate complex accounting concepts clearly.
- Experience working with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
- Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS This position is eligible to earn a base salary in the range of $100,000 to $125,000 annually depending on location and job-related factors such as level of experience. Compensation for this role also includes eligibility for short-term incentive compensation and deferred incentive compensation subject to individual and company performance.
