Spectra Tech, LLC, is currently looking for a Security Technician II to work on a government project at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Maryland.
This position is full-time and onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground. Responsibilities
- Visitor control security technician will process, screen and badge all visitors entering the RA
- Technician will receive visit requests by facsimile or through Defense Information Systems for Security (DISS) and update visitor access database
- Technician will verify security clearance and access eligibility for physical access to the RA. Manage the Visitor Control Mailbox: usarmy.apg.atec.mbx.apgr-atc-visitorcontrol@army.mil and process all requests/actions sent to this mailbox
- Review and respond to ATC visit requests in the mailbox or by fax. Ensure that the ATC POC concurs with the request
- Ensure access control and badging procedures are implemented for the operation of the Aberdeen Test Center Visitor Control Center (VCC)
- Follow all procedures in the ATC Visitor Control Center Internal Operating Procedure (IOP)
- Technician will fabricate (photograph subject, enter badge data, print and encode) RA badges supporting contractor access to the RA
- Technician will enroll Government and Mission Support Contractor CACs for RA access and building access
- Technician will ensure access control and badging procedures are implemented as stated in the ATC Visitor Control Center Internal Operating Procedure (IOP)
- All duties will be performed in an office environment
- Visitor control technicians will open the Visitor Control Center each duty day starting at 0630 and will support visitor access until closing at 1600
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance
- Associate's Degree in a security related discipline (e.g. Security Operations, Security Engineering, Security Management, Criminal Justice, and Intelligence) or equivalent work experience in a security environment
- Must have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, computer proficiency, the ability to maintain accurate records and the capacity to follow security protocols
- High level of accuracy when recording data and managing access logs
- Ability to effectively communicate with visitors, employees, and security personnel both verbally and in writing
- Familiarity with access control software, data entry systems and basic Microsoft Office applications
- Expertise in office software like Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Efficiently manage access logs, visitor records and other administrative tasks
- Ability to identify potential security risks and report suspicious activity
- Knowledge of different access control technologies like card readers, keypads and biometric systems
- Ability to interact professionally with visitors and employees in a customer service-oriented manner
- Ability to greet visitors professionally, answer inquiries, and handle situations calmly, especially when dealing with potentially frustrated individuals.
- Attention to detail: Carefully monitoring visitor identification, checking access permissions, and logging details accurately
- Ability to handle emergencies: Staying composed and following established procedures in case of security incidents
- Familiarity with access control software and systems for managing visitor access
