Spectra Tech, LLC, is currently looking for a Security Technician I to work on a government project at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Aberdeen, Maryland.
This position is full-time and onsite at Aberdeen Proving Ground.
Responsibilities
- Conduct access control at gate 13 and be prepared to assist access control at Gates 10, 18, 24 and 25 as required by ATC Security Office
- Control access to the ATC RA in compliance with ATC Access Policy, ATC Guard Orders and supplemental ATC guidance
- Open Gate 13 at 0530 and close at 1700. Confirm visit badge authorization of person entering the ATC RA
- Receive and control Visit Access Rosters from ATC Security and use these rosters to verify access for special events or special purpose access as directed by ATC Security
- Control flow of traffic through RA access points to support safe and orderly operation of the gate and the gate threshold area
- Report operating condition of gates, gate operators, and barrier arms to the ATC Physical Security Specialist
- Report condition, issue and problem with guardhouse and support facilities to the ATC Personnel Security Specialist for work order and repair
- Support emergency access and response. Assist and expedite the entry and exit of APG emergency personnel (Police and Fire)
- Support elevation of Force Protection Control Measures at the direction of ATC Security.
- Monitor automated gate operation, equipment and devices and report any malfunction or reduction in effective operation to ATC Security
- Duty points of entry shall include Gate 13, Gate 18, Gate 24, Gate 25 and Post 10 with primary place of duty being Gate 13
Required Qualifications
- U.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense Secret Clearance
- Associate's Degree in a security related discipline (e.g. Security Operations, Security Engineering, Security Management, Criminal Justice, and Intelligence) or equivalent work experience in a security environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication to effectively interact with visitors, employees and key personnel
- Keen attention to detail to monitor activity and identify potential security risks
- Ability to stand for extended periods and patrol designated areas to check on security measures and potentially lift light objects
- Capacity to make quick, informed decisions in high-pressure situations. Staying composed and following established procedures in case of security incidents. Previous work in a security role, such as a security guard or similar position required.
