The salary range for this position takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Shows others how to approach job tasks and projects with a mindset of continuous learning and improvement, improving skills and sophistication, and self-motivation to learn new skills

  • Owns responsibility for maintaining an effective, accurate, and clear strategy for well-timed and well-placed student communications. i.e. the Communication Matrix.

  • Designs, develops, and executes communication strategies.

  • Develops audience-specific messaging.

  • Tracks effectiveness of student communication strategies and changes course as needed based on feedback.

  • Creates and advises on high-quality, compelling communications at the organizational level for a variety of channels (email, SMS, podcasts, video scripts, enablement resources, marketing pages, and in-portal notifications).

  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies and procedures relating to the writing of all student-facing materials.

  • Models a collaborative relationship with all appropriate internal and external stakeholders

  • Collaborates with WGU leaders and various business stakeholders to determine the necessary project scope and delivery expectations.

  • Works independently and mentors others to achieve project objectives.

  • Audits student-facing content for tone and correctness.

  • Develops and implements user testing processes for all written materials; aligns the content with results.

  • Makes informed subjective decisions, based on project objectives, product messaging, and stakeholder requirements.

  • Stays current with trends and research in content best practices, including digital communications, UI, and behavioral economics.

  • Seeks out and welcomes feedback from various sources and iterates based on feedback. Conversely, provides feedback to leadership and peers alike.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exceptional project management and organization skills, working directly with project managers and producers

  • Significant stakeholder management experience

  • Executive-level communication ability.

  • Proven consulting skills with the ability to work across all levels of an organization successfully advising, guiding, and influencing key stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to build strong trusted relationships and foster collaboration and teamwork.

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills using a structured approach.

  • Ability to generate and implement innovative ideas to engage and inform stakeholders.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively and creatively in a fast-paced, agile environment.

  • Strong attention to detail and a feeling of pride and ownership over the quality of our learning experience products and communications.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Instructional Design, Education Technology, or another relevant field.

  • Master's degree in Communications, English, Organizational Development, or related field of study preferred

Experience

  • 5+ years of related experience from concept to delivery, with a proven track record of meeting deadlines

  • Experienced mentor and coach who brings out the best in other professionals

  • Strong prioritization and time management skills to balance multiple demands

  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly, extreme attention to detail, and strong communication skills

Preferred:

  • Proven familiarity with standards of web accessibility including alternate text, color contrast, multiple means of representation, and keyboard controls.

  • Ability to work in a variety of platforms, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Pendo, SMS Magic, Salesforce, Google Suite, Articulate 360, h5p, Adobe Acrobat, Open EdX, Learnosity, and the ability to quickly learn proprietary tools as well.

  • May have broad knowledge of project management.

Experience in lieu of education

Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

Position & Application Details
