Overview
The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Sales - Commercial Services is a key senior leadership role accountable for the strategy, staffing, and execution of all sales and client relationship functions within the Commercial division. The SVP will lead strategic initiatives that deliver substantial and sustainable growth across office, logistics, and specialty services for local and national clients. This leader will directly oversee a high-performing sales team, establish a scalable structure, and drive a culture of accountability, discipline, and performance rigor. Success in this role requires a disciplined, performance-based leader who excels in people development and operational efficiencies. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated sales leadership and sales management background, data-driven decision-making-and building a high-producing sales organization that thrives in a competitive and fast-moving marketplace.
Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Execution
Develop and implement strategic sales plans to meet growth targets and revenue goals across multiple verticals (Office, Hospitality, Healthcare, Education, Technology).
- Lead outside sales, business development, and marketing activation efforts in partnership with the Marketing team.
- Evaluate customer trends, shifting market dynamics, and competitor activity to adapt sales tactics and resource allocation.
- Represent the company at external events and industry engagements to promote services and expand market presence.
Client Relationship Management
- Establish and lead a client relations function focused on retention, expansion, and cross-selling.
- Ensure a consistent and proactive customer engagement approach that nurtures existing accounts while identifying upsell opportunities.
- Participate directly in pitch meetings, finalist presentations, and executive-level negotiations for high-value customers.
Organizational Design & Staffing
- Evaluate current sales org structure and revise staffing plans based on growth objectives and market needs.
- Confirm proper sales coverage across priority markets and service lines.
- Lead or support hiring decisions, including onboarding, role alignment, and future bench planning.
Performance Management & Coaching
- Set clear expectations, KPIs, and pipeline standards for all sales team members.
- Monitor performance and implement development plans, improvement plans, or realignments as needed.
- Lead with consistency, clarity, and discipline to ensure repeatable success across the sales organization.
- Design and oversee incentive compensation plans aligned with business goals and margin expectations.
CRM, Data, and Forecasting
- Enforce rigorous CRM usage standards; ensure pipeline data is complete, timely, and accurate.
- Use data analytics and visual modeling tools to evaluate trends, interpret performance, and refine strategies.
- Lead forecasting and sales planning efforts using structured tools and goal frameworks.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Marketing on brand positioning, campaign execution, and lead generation.
- Work with Procurement and Contracting teams to review and negotiate customer agreements that align with business standards.
- Engage with Finance, Operations, and Customer Service to ensure end-to-end alignment from deal close through execution.
Qualifications
- 7 years' experience managing a sales team of 10+ direct reports.
- Proven success leading B2B sales executives in a complex service environment-logistics, transportation, construction, commercial moving, facilities, or adjacent markets.
- Strong experience using and customizing CRM platforms (Salesforce or similar) to drive accountability and forecast accuracy.
- Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring/developing sales talent with diverse experience levels.
- Highly organized and structured, with a leadership style rooted in discipline, consistency, and process adherence.
- Experience creating and rolling out sales incentive programs tied to strategic growth and profitability goals.
- Contract negotiation experience, including working with procurement/legal teams to finalize service and customer sales agreements.
- Effective communication and executive presence; comfortable leading internal and customer-facing engagements.
- Change management experience-especially in transforming legacy sales cultures or scaling new lines of business.
