JOB SUMMARY:
The EHS Custodian will provide general housekeeping services of the building and grounds of the Early Head Start site. Performs custodial duties in assigned zones according to contract specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains cleanliness of building, grounds, and sidewalk areas.
- Provides cleaning services including floor care (stripping, waxing, buffing)
- Provides maintenance services including, light bulb replacement, furniture and fixture repair, ceiling tile replacement, etc.
- Moves heavy materials such as cabinets, desks, etc., as required
- Maintains a professional and courteous attitude at all times
- Commits to improvement and team building
- As necessary, secures, greets visitors and directs them to appropriate locations
- Pulls trash in specified zones
- Wipes down walls in specified zones
- Sweeps, dust mops, damp mops, and buffs floors in specified zones
- Cleans window sills in specified zones
- Dust fixtures and furniture in specified zones
- Cleans all restroom surfaces, including urinals, floors, pipes, walls, etc.
- Clean drinking fountains
- Cleans and spots clean walls, floors, and carpets, as needed
- Demonstrates awareness and practice of GIC Safety Policies
- Demonstrates proper usage/storage of Personal Protective Equipment
- Demonstrates proper usage/storage of chemicals and equipment
- Demonstrates proper and immediate reporting of incidents/accidents
- Reports to work as scheduled

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous custodial experience required
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must possess a current valid and unrestricted driver's license and be fully insured according to Maryland law
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Pre-employment Early Head Start CJIS criminal background investigation required
- Must have a pre-employment physical and tuberculosis screen per Early Head Start guidelines

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Heavy : Lifting up to 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds. May be required to regularly stand for extended periods of time, walk, reach with hands/arms with full range of motion, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, push or pull. Regularly required to talk and hear. Frequently required to use hands and fingers to hold, handle and feel objects, knobs, keys and/or buttons.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel is defined as travel to all areas within Goodwill's territory (Cecil, Harford, Baltimore, Howard, and Anne Arundel Counties, Baltimore City and the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland). In some cases, long-distance travel, including overnights may be required but is typically planned in advance. In some cases, travel may be unplanned.
