Position Summary:

The Scalehouse Operator is responsible for managing the flow of truck traffic, processing orders, and ensuring accurate documentation of materials leaving the site. This role plays a critical part in maintaining safety, quality, and operational efficiency at Lhoist North America's facility.

Key Responsibilities:

Order Management

  • Receive and process customer orders for stone and related materials.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and drivers to ensure timely and accurate service.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare and issue truck bill of ladings.
  • Compile, produce, and file truck loading sheets.
  • Manage cash sales and prepare daily bank deposits.

Safety & Compliance

  • Attend and actively participate in safety meetings.
  • Enforce all company, local, state, and federal safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain compliance with company and federal housekeeping standards.

Quality Assurance

  • Implement and uphold all elements of the Quality Manual.
  • Ensure the validity and accuracy of all documentation and procedures related to scalehouse operations.

Training & Support

  • Provide and verify on-the-job training as assigned.
  • Serve as backup for other Scalehouse Operators and receive backup support as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a mining, construction, or heavy manufacturing environment.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and public speaking skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and customer service.
Physical & Environmental Requirements
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations, including heights up to 120 feet, confined spaces, and tunnels.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and industrial environments with exposure to heat, cold, noise, dust, and fumes.
  • Must be able to lift over 50 pounds and perform physical activities such as standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, and reaching.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be available to work any shift, including on-call, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
