Main Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate assembly machines for the assembly of precision aircraft quality blind fasteners.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Competencies:
Recognize when measuring devices, such as micrometers and calipers, are out of calibration
Operate and maintain tools like micrometers, calipers, comparators, microscopes, and tensile testers.
Grasp basic assembly area terms and identify major systems (power supply, controls, feeding systems) in assembly machines.
Meet quality and production standards, perform minor troubleshooting, and use the correct apparatus for testing and lubrication.
Interpret hardbacks, product drawings, and perform and document first article inspections and quality checks according to procedures.
Conduct necessary computer transactions for assembly operations and work closely with supervision on systems like T-Card and production management.
Initiate maintenance work orders and prioritize them appropriately.
Understand part feature terminology, read and interpret product drawings, bills of material, control plans, and work instructions.
Distinguish between single and double-action assemblies.
Follow Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Be aware of specific hazards related to their job and understand the plant's EHS rules and policies.
Use employee signatures for production sign-off, complete procedural training, and be familiar with relevant documentation and quality policies.
Engage with leadership for guidance, communicate openly about job performance, and strive to meet or exceed key performance indicators.
Qualifications
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blue
prints, drawings, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and
procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all
units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read
and understand blueprints.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general
education degree (GED). 0-2 years
experience in operating various assembly machines; or equivalent combination of
education and experience.
Physical
Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee
is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk
or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and
arms, and kneel or crouch. The employee
must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or
move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth
perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is
regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
Compensation
In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $18.00-$20.00
Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
