About the Job

The Center for the Art of Medicine (CFAM) research lab is in search of a part-time study coordinator for a new research project entitled, Examining the Impact of the Fisch Art Awards on Medical Student Growth and Wellbeing.

Study Description:

The Fisch Art of Medicine and John Song Student Awards Program (Fisch Awards) is an innovative University of Minnesota program that awards grants to medical students to allow them to pursue an arts-related activity during their medical school training. These awards aim to nurture creativity, allow students to express themselves in new ways, and enhance lifelong connections between the art and science of medicine. The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences of students in the Fisch Awards program and to assess its impact on participants, both during their medical school years and after graduation. We hypothesize that the Fisch Awards may impact participants in three different domains: Professional Development, Well-being and Resilience, and Curiosity and Creativity. This mixed-methods study will use validated metrics to assess potential impact through pre- and post-award assessments of participants' well-being and curiosity. In addition, participants will complete post-award surveys and interviews, which will be analyzed using qualitative methods. The study will also include an evaluation of the program that contains both process and outcome components, as that information may be useful for other institutions interested in launching similar programs.

Please see the study proposal and study protocol for more details.
