Description We are seeking a highly skilled Data Center Systems Engineer to support a large-scale decommissioning and migration initiative, transitioning core systems from VMware to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Linux systems, virtualization technologies, and infrastructure monitoring, with hands-on experience in data center operations and cloud migrations. Key Responsibilities Assist in planning and executing the decommissioning of on-prem VMware environments Lead or support the migration of virtual machines and services to GCP Ensure reliable system performance during transition through patching, monitoring, and remediation Configure, manage, and optimize Linux-based servers throughout their lifecycle Develop and maintain shell scripts (Bash) for automation and system integrity Manage virtual infrastructure including provisioning, performance tuning, and HA configuration Collaborate with stakeholders on access control, account transitions, and identity integration Maintain compliance with security policies throughout the migration process Monitor systems using Zabbix, Grafana/Graphite, SNMP, Dell OME, and Sensu Document procedures, workflows, and post-decommission support plans Core Qualifications Operating System Management Proficient in Linux administration (patching, configuration, troubleshooting) Experienced in OS deployment and lifecycle management Skilled in Bash scripting and task automation Virtualization Technologies Strong knowledge of VMware (vCenter, ESXi) administration Familiarity with KVM virtualization Expertise in VM provisioning, migration strategies, and HA configuration Storage Management Working knowledge of storage technologies and volume management Identity and Access Management Proficient in LDAP and authentication system administration Skilled in user/group management and password security best practices Experience processing access requests and maintaining compliance Skills System administrator, Active directory, Systems engineering, Windows server, Linux, Windows administration, Automation, Server administrator, Cloud, Infrastructure, Virtualization, Vmware, Storage, linux administration, patch management, identity access management, monitoring tools Top Skills Details System administrator,Active directory,Systems engineering,Windows server,Linux,Windows administration,Automation,Server administrator,Cloud,Infrastructure,Virtualization,Vmware,Storage,linux administration,patch management,identity access management,moni Additional Skills & Qualifications System Management Proficient in Linux administration, including patching, configuration, and troubleshooting. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
