Our Intensive Care Units at GW Hospital:

- Medical ICU (MICU): High-complexity patients requiring advanced critical care interventions.

- Surgical ICU (SICU): Specializing in trauma, neuro, and post-operative intensive care.

- Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU): Advanced cardiac support including open-heart surgery recovery and ECMO therapy.

Job Summary

Are you a dedicated and experienced Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse seeking an exciting opportunity in the heart of Washington, D.C.? Responsibilities

  • Patient Care: Deliver compassionate and evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • Monitoring: Utilize advanced monitoring technology to assess and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other relevant data. Respond promptly to changes in patient status.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive and effective patient care.
  • Critical Thinking: Apply advanced critical thinking skills in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans for complex medical conditions.
  • Advocacy: Serve as an advocate for patients and their families, providing emotional support and ensuring their needs are met throughout the care journey.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
  • Education: Provide patient and family education on medical conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care.
  • Quality Improvement: Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient outcomes and contribute to the ongoing improvement of nursing practices within the ICU.

Qualifications

  • BSN or currently enrolled.
  • DC RN License, or eligibility
  • Critical Care experience: 1 year full time experience or 2 years part time experience
  • BLS
  • ACLS
