Associate Director, Residential Education and Community Standards

Requirements

The Associate Director, Residential Education and Community Standards provides leadership for the goals of student learning, formation and community in the residence halls. A member of the department's six-person director staff, the Associate Director is involved in department planning, policy formulation and implementation, and program development. The Associate Director collaborates for and with students and professional staff to achieve the goals of the Office of Residential Education. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve on the University Bias Response Team & Hazing Response Team, liaising with the Office Neighborhood Life & neighbors.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, most notably the Office of Student Conduct and Environmental Safety and Georgetown University Police Department.
  • Assist with policy development, emergency procedures, and budget oversight, working with students in crisis.
  • Provide on call duty support for the Community Directors, representing the department on committees and task forces.
  • Work with campus offices and neighbors on issues affecting community relations, selecting on-going professional staff and their development.
  • Respond to students of concern in their designated area, integrating the department's mission into practice, policy, and program.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities that are necessary to the operation of a comprehensive residential program, performing other duties as assigned or requested by the Director.


Work Interactions

The Associate Director of Residential Education and Community Standards is responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day management of the department in conjunction with the Director and other Associate Director. The Associate Director's primary responsibilities include direct supervision and evaluation of one Assistant Director and Graduate Assistant for Residential Student Conduct. The Associate Director is the senior person in Residential education focusing on planning, strategizing, and mitigating risk while also connecting students to our shared community responsibilities and expectations. The Associate Director also provides indirect supervision of masters-level community directors and undergraduate resident assistants. The Associate Director works directly with the Office of Student Conduct to oversee and administer all aspects of Code of Student Conduct processes for residential students, including the management of the Residential Judicial Council. The Associate Director reviews, assigns, and tracks all aspects of the case adjudication process for Residential Living. The Associate Director serves as the Chair of the Professional Staff Training, Development & On-boarding Committee, planning and implementing all professional staff training events, development programs and the on-boarding of new professional staff within the department.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • A minimum of 5 years full-time post-master's experience with progressive responsibilities in student affairs/higher education
  • Experience in supervising full-time staff and significant experience in adjudicating conduct cases as well as emergency response
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of leadership, supervision, professional development, administrative skills, social justice & inclusion, community development, educational engagement and emergency response
  • Awareness and understanding of the Jesuit values and the ability to conceptualize them in the application of this role is desirable in addition to experience advising students
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding and commitment to the education and character development of university students

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$54,616.00 - $100,493.33

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
