Job Summary - Director, Labor Relations Communications
Leads the development and implementation of the strategic labor relations communication function for the organization. Responsible for leading the team that will create the internal communications intended to engage, inform and educate team members. Demonstrates expertise and skill in developing strategic, integrated communications solutions and implementing a variety of communications tactics for internal audiences. Coordinates messaging across a variety of platforms and develops strong relationships with internal stakeholders. Responsible for project management, vendor management, communications planning, and team development. Manages and provides leadership to teams to develop plans that help accomplish labor relations goals and tasks.

While this role reports up through the labor relations team, this individual must work collaboratively with the system communications team.

Essential Functions - Director, Labor Relations Communications

  • Develops a strategic labor relations communications plan to meet the organization's objectives. Use the plan as a benchmark for evaluating proposed and existing projects. Focus on driving impact with all communications activities.
  • Oversee labor relations communications campaigns from concept to completion in traditional and digital environments including website, social media, email, print, direct mail and other tactics in collaboration with the regions. Evaluate the effectiveness of communication strategies & tactics and adjust plans accordingly.
  • Coordinates and manages plans for 360-degree audience outreach based on objectives set forth in specific marketing and communications plans. Must be a team player with excellent collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • Anticipates the organization's needs, identifies opportunities and solutions, customizes as appropriate matching resources to needs, as well as researches and resolves problems. Manages time lines and budgets as appropriate for department, product, and/or service line, ensuring operations are managed within established guidelines.
  • Measure the success of communications activities with data. Utilize the analytics and consumer insights to inform new activities. Hold team accountable to key performance indicators.

Qualifications - Director, Labor Relations Communications

  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Management Information Systems or related field.
  • 7 years of relevant experience including 5 years progressive experience in communications. Required
  • 5 years of relevant experience in leadership. Required
  • Background in labor relations and/or communications in a unionized workplace. Required
