The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking an Early Childhood Group Leader/Attendant Care Worker. This position provides attendant care services to clients being served through the Center's CBS program on a group and individual basis. Evenings required 1+ days per week after 5 PM.

  • Base hourly rate of $20.52 to $22.93 per hour, depending upon qualifications



Responsibilities

1. Provide attendant care services which assist with promoting successful completion of daily activities and assist with promoting successful group interactions among consumers

2. Provide ongoing support and follow-through for client goal attainment in the areas of these life domains: home, financial/insurance, vocational/educational, health, relationships, leisure/recreation, daily living skills, through goal-directed YPP activities

3. Facilitate groups as assigned and assist with development of group program curriculum

4. Provide assertive outreach directed toward engaging and maintaining client relationships. Meet with clients individually when necessary or assigned

5. Encourage and support clients' engagement in pro-social and YPP activities

6. Encourage and support clients' efforts to effectively problem-solve and interact successfully with others

7. Work respectfully and supportively with clients' parents/caregivers, while observing appropriate boundaries

8. Transport clients to and from activities or appointments when necessary as well as serve as Attendant on van transportation routes as assigned

9. Understand direct service requirements and efficiency goals established by TGC for the position, and achieve same

10. Provide documentation (clinical notes, reports, and other professional products) which complies with TGC's Quality Improvement standards and the requirements of all funding sources.

EDUCATION:

A bachelor's degree is required. Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or human service field preferred. Equivalent work experience in the human services field, or a combination of work experience in the human services field and education, with one year of experience substituting for one year of education, may be considered.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: One year volunteer or paid experience working with individuals in the community.

Preferred: experience providing services to individuals with mental health issues and/or developmental disabilities.
