The Guidance Center (TGC) is the Community Mental Health Center and Certified Behavioral Health Clinic serving Leavenworth, Atchison, and Jefferson counties in Kansas. We provide high-quality care to all individuals, regardless of their financial circumstances. The Guidance Center (TGC) is currently seeking a Respite Care Worker. This position provides attendant care and/or respite care services to youth being served through the Center's CBS program. Evenings and weekends are required.

  • Base hourly rate of $19.69 to $22.10 per hour, depending upon qualifications



Responsibilities



  1. Supervise youth attending Respite services





  1. Work with youth during structured activities to create a safe and productive environment.





  1. Encourage and support clients' efforts to effectively problem-solve and interact successfully with others





  1. Work respectfully and supportively with clients' parents/caregivers, while observing appropriate boundaries





  1. Transport clients to and from appointments and activities when necessary.





  1. Understand KDHE standards regarding respite care and licensing regulations





  1. Abide by KDHE and TGC disciplinary policy





  1. Understand direct service requirements/assignments and efficiency goals established by TGC for the position, and achieve same





  1. Provide documentation (clinical notes, reports, and other professional products) which complies with TGC's Quality Improvement standards and the requirements of all funding sources.



EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate or GED required. Must be 21 years of age or older and have six months experience working with youth. Experience gained through practicum experience or volunteer work can be included.

Preferred: One year of college course work or one year experience in the field of human services or a combination of each; experience working with youth with mental health issues.
