Overview
This position has the ability for remote/hybrid scheduling. Residents in CA, NY, OR, VT, WA, Washington DC and Puerto Rico are not eligible based on UPH's Geography. Responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and maintaining credentialing and recredentialing processes for physicians, advanced practice professionals (APP), and other health care professionals specified in the Medical Staff Bylaws, Credentialing and Privileging Policy, Medical Staff Organization Manual, and Peer Review Oversight Policy, DNV, state, federal and other regulatory agencies while working independently and utilizing critical thinking skills. for UnityPoint Health - Des Moines (UPHDM) and contracted entities. This position serves as an essential link and resource between senior management, operational/clinical leaders, and medical staff to coordinate the operational processes and ongoing credentialing, privileging, and medical staff governance functions for the organization.

Responsibilities
- Assists in the management of the medical staff support function for the entity Medical Staff Organization as outlined in the entity Medical Staff Bylaws
- Coordinates receipt of credentialing and privileging applications following processing and primary source verification by UnityPoint Health Central Verification Office (CVO); performs analysis, identification, and follow-up of any outstanding items and "red flag" items ensuring compliance with bylaws, policies and procedures, DNV, state, and other regulatory standards; prepares files for review and recommendation by the medical staff through the electronic administrative review module.

- Responsible for the completion of physician and/or APP initial/provisional/ reappointment application files. Follow through with the actions of the Board of Directors concerning applications in a timely and concise manner in order to complete each file, updating the database, and notify proper areas within the medical center.
- May prepare for and follow through with the monthly Credentials and/or Advanced Provider Professional Credentials Committee meetings. (Agenda, meeting notices, minutes)
- May prepare monthly credentials report for the Medical Executive Committee and the Board of Directors/Executive Board.

Minimum 1 year experience in, a Medical Staff office or credentialing . |
Windows environment, familiarity with credentialing software programs. |
License(s)/Certification(s): |
Certification as a Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM) or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) following completion of five years of employment. Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. |
