Key Responsibilities

CNC Programmer plans, designs, and develops CNC programs and required tooling to meet the specifications of the CAD designs and customer blueprint specifications. The CNC Programmer will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering group and CNC shop personnel to produce reliable CNC processes.

The ideal candidate will be internally motivated and an initiative-taker with strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Streamlines processes to reduce waste and improve workflow.
  • Develops methods, procedures, and tools to achieve the most economical cost of manufacturing.
  • Improves various aspects of operational performance such as productivity, cycle time, tool life and inventory levels.
  • Works with supervisors and operators to ensure programming and work instructions are standardized and followed throughout all shifts.
  • Performs root cause analysis for a variety of machining and programming issues.
  • Plans and performs difficult machine programs and operations to produce a wide variety of parts and details having a multiplicity of dimensions of very close specifications.
  • Works from complicated ideas, drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Aligns parts and fixturing, select feeds and speeds and operations sequences.
  • Recognizes defective or faulty craftsmanship and report issues to departmental manager.
  • Maintains all databases and have the ability to upload parameters and programs from a variety of machine controls.
  • Works with DNC and software when needed.
  • Assists in the training of new employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Two years of technical school or related experience in the metal cutting area with
  • 4 years of experience in programming
  • 4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Experience in CNC machining center and lathe experience in setup and operation
  • 3 years of experience in Cam Works, SolidWorks, and CAD
  • Ability to solve problems on the spot.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and quality control processes.
  • Demonstrated success in product development, blueprint reading necessary, be performance driven and set team and individual goals.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of all current product lines preferred.
  • Ability to interact with customers, vendors, etc. in a positive manner.
  • Ability to use computers and understand programming software.
  • Ability to work with minimal to no supervision.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: Potential physical demands include, but are not limited to frequent walking, standing, twisting, carrying and handling; regular bending, stooping and kneeling; regular lifting up to 50 lbs.; occasional climbing, pushing and pulling.Potential sensory demands include but are not limited to hearing and seeing.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Work Environment: Majority of time is spent in a manufacturing production environment with some (but not all) climate-controlled areas. Personal protective safety equipment must be worn, and proper safety precautions must be observed. Potential exposure may include, but is not limited to solvents, dusts, noise, heat, outside weather conditions, cramped spaces, and building construction areas.
