Shipping Supervisor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Studies shipping calendar and master schedule for shipment projections of modular units to plan for equipment and recourse requirements for material handling activities.

2. Confers with Supervisors of other departments to coordinate needs for transport related materials or products.

3. Reviews, validates, and/or prepares documents such as shipping Bill of Materials, loading and offloading diagrams, and Bills of Lading.

4. Coordinates with delivery and site services for loading buildings and ship loose material schedules.

5. Interprets company policies for employees and enforces safety regulations.

6. Interprets transportation plans to employees and assigns duties.

7. Prioritizes to meet production schedules.

8. Recommends improvements to processes, equipment performance, and quality of product.

9. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

10. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.

11. Endeavors to create a work environment that is enjoyable, engenders pride in the product and focus on the customer, and provides room for individual responsibilities and ideas.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, or 3 - 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Microsoft office suite is required. Experience in ERP system preferred
  • Directly supervises employees for building preparation and load. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Certified or ability to become forklift certified, and valid driver license are required
