Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Data Analyst with experience in governance and data architecture to join our Decision Analytics team. In this role, you will play a key part in managing and optimizing our data architecture, ensuring the security, accuracy and quality of our data stewardship practices, and supporting the overall data governance framework across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of data management principles, as well as hands-on experience with data quality, metadata management, and data governance processes.

As part of our team, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Data Engineers, Data Scientists, IT, and Business Analysts, to ensure that data is effectively governed and leveraged to drive strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Architecture Support:

  • Assist in the design and implementation of data architecture frameworks that support efficient data storage, access, and retrieval across multiple systems.
  • Ensure that data models and schemas are aligned with organizational goals and business requirements.
  • Work with data engineers to optimize the flow of data between systems, ensuring consistency and accuracy across platforms.
  • Design cloud-based/hybrid data lake architecture including data partitioning strategies (e.g., Azure Suite of tools, Microsoft Fabric OneLake, PowerBI Workspace).
  • Serve as an integration expert data from various structured and unstructured sources (REST/SOAP/OData APIs, flat files, cross-platform databases, etc.).
  • Establish rules for automated process development covering data management tenets (rules data retention, archival, and purging).

Data Stewardship:

  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to define and manage data definitions, data quality standards, and data classifications.
  • Monitor and validate data quality, identifying discrepancies and recommending corrective actions.
  • Participate/lead triage sessions to troubleshoot issues related to data ingestion, processing, or access.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for data models, pipelines, policies, and infrastructure.
  • Perform regular audits and ensure data quality, reliability, and consistency.

Data Governance:

  • Implement, develop and monitor data governance policies, including data access, data security, encryption, and role-based access controls in compliance with company and regulatory policies.
  • Define metadata standards, data catalogs, and schema registries (ie. Ab Initio Minerva, Azure Data Catalog).
  • Support the creation and maintenance of data catalogs, ensuring proper documentation and metadata management.
  • Track, maintain and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for data governance (including data lineage, quality and provenance), ensuring adherence to governance guidelines.
  • Engage with data owners and stakeholders to promote data governance best practices across the business.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Work closely with business leaders, data engineers, and data analysts to ensure alignment between data governance policies and business objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance to data stewards, business analysts, and other stakeholders on data management best practices for data lake usage
  • Mentors those in less senior positions
  • Prepare reports and presentations on data governance, stewardship, and architecture activities for executive leadership.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements related to data governance, stewardship, and architecture.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in data management, architecture, and governance.

Preferred skills, experiences, and key attributes:

  • Strong understanding of data governance principles, data quality metrics, and metadata management.
  • Experience in data processing techniques to scrub, combine and manage data from relational and NoSQL sources
  • Familiarity with data governance tool Ab Initio Metadatahub and Azure tools including but not limited to Databricks, Data Factory, Key Vaults, Data Catalog, etc.
  • Proficiency in ANSI/Spark SQL and experience with data querying and reporting. Python/PySpark is a plus.
  • Experience with GET/POST REST API and READ Odata API to support data ingestions and OAUTH requests
  • Proficiency in Power Query M, Power BI DAX and data modeling
  • Azure database experience is preferred
  • Demonstration of strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills to evaluate data and identify opportunities
  • Understanding and experience in SAFe/Agile PM methodologies is a plus
  • Experience with Planview suite of tools (ie. Portfolios, AgilePlace etc.) and digital.ai Agility preferred
  • Strong collaboration skills, translating business needs to analytic requirements and develop recommended approaches
  • Ability to create clear communication artifacts, written and visual
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for maintaining data integrity and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse teams
  • Proactive and self-driven, with a continuous improvement mindset

Minimum Education

Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or a quantitative discipline such as mathematics, engineering, operations research, economics or finance.

Minimum Experience

Seven (7) years of experience in measurement and analysis, quantitative business problem-solving, operations analysis, marketing analysis, simulation development and/or predictive analytics.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Superior analytical skills with diverse analytics and statistical software and applications. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Proven leadership skills.

Pay Transparency: This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors An employee may be eligible for additional pay, premiums, or bonus potential. Pay: US pay range: $7,094.23 - $12,533.14 monthly
