This is a Temporary position limited to no more than 12-months. This position is part-time and limited to no more than an average of 30 hours a week in a twelve-month period.

The Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care Medicine is seeking an organized individual for a temporary position (up to 30 hours/week, up to 12 months) to help the Asthma Research Team in performing research related tasks. The average hours for this position will be 20-30 hours/week and is based at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. This Research Assistant position will be responsible for data entry, data validation, subject screening, recruitment, enrollment, regulatory compliance, and assisting research coordinators in duties associated with performing clinical research activities. The successful candidate will be a productive member of the research team, participate in research projects, and help maintain the operation of the laboratory. The candidate should be able to work independently and as a member of a team. Flexible work hours, including infrequent evenings or weekends, may be required. This position can work a hybrid schedule, at times remotely and in the office. Candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigators and the study team in a cooperative environment. Excellent communication skills, the ability to multitask, along with orientation toward teamwork and cooperation are required. The applicants should demonstrate that they are well organized, reliable, independent, and possess considerable attention to detail. They should also have excellent verbal, written, and computational skills. Key Responsibilities:
- Completes data entry using various data electronic capturing systems (REDCAP, Access, Medidata, etc)
- Completes data validation for coordinators and studies
- Complete electronic medical records (EPIC) queries to pre-screen and screen study subjects
- Helps coordinate study set-up, visits and procedures with multiple departments and research teams
- Recruits and obtains proper consents of subjects based on strict inclusion/exclusion criteria
- Help develop advertisements and works directly with recruitment companies in developing recruitment plans for studies
- Interviews prospective subjects for a variety of research clinical trials. Educates potential subjects on the details of the studies through phone contacts and personal interviews
- Biospecimen collection and preparation (urine, blood, sputum, lavage) for basic research testing
- Assists laboratory staff with basic human sample processing and performs routine wet lab experiments under supervision.
- Helps clean and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Maintains and audits laboratory sample records and human subject study documentation.
- Supports staff with monitoring large datasets and fulfilling data requests.
- Adherence to and technical knowledge of regulatory compliance issues related to human subjects research
- May need to assist with creation, preparation and submission of clinical research documents (consent forms, maintenance, and reconciliation of study databases report forms, IRB applications, etc.)
- Participate in staff in-service trainings on study protocols, team and divisional staff meetings
- Work closely with the Principal Investigators and study staff regarding recruitment and retention of subjects
- Attend trainings as necessary for required credentials
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
|
Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
- Associate of Arts degree or equivalent
- Must be able to meet credentialing requirements at area hospitals
- Some research experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior clinical research experience
- Knowledge of GCP/ICH guidelines and human subjects research
- Experience with patient-oriented research
- Knowledge of IRB submissions and regulatory compliance
- Experience with electronic data capture systems (REDCAP, OnCore)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under strict time constraints
- Good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft office software, computer data entry, and data management
- Ability to follow detailed and complicated protocols
- Ability to be team oriented and flexible
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as: $20/hour The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level. Your total compensation goes beyond the number on your paycheck. Temporary employees are only eligible for sick leave benefits.
