BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT LEAD ACCOUNTANT CHICAGO DEPARTMENT OF AVIATION (CDA) Capital Finance Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $87,516; Grade: G-07 Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59 pm CDT on Monday, August 11, 2025. This position is open to the public and all current city employees covered under the City's Collective Bargaining Agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY, AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES (AFSCME) - BARGAINING UNIT 1, 3, 4 & 5. Select your correct bargaining unit FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN A REJECTED BID APPLICATION Under general supervision, performs professional accounting work of the most complex nature, typically requiring the application of advanced accounting knowledge, and/or functions as a working supervisor over a small accounting staff while maintaining own accounts, and performs related duties as required ESSENTIAL DUTIES
* Oversee and coordinate check processing procedures for ID Badging and other miscellaneous revenue, ensuring proper logging, verification, scanning, and delivery to the Comptroller's Office in compliance with internal controls. * Manage monthly and annual revenue analysis for non-airline tenants at both airports, including updating projections, maintaining accurate vendor data, and ensuring revenue formulas reflect current agreements. * Prepare, validate, and update financial reporting models, including vendor sales inputs, rate calculations, and summary charges, ensuring monthly reports are complete, consistent, and compliant. * Lead maintenance of historical financial datasets, ensuring continuity and accuracy across year-end transitions and coordinating updates to documentation, formulas, and report formats. * Perform quality control checks on all revenue and billing data entered, identifying and correcting anomalies or errors in financial spreadsheets before finalization. * Administer billing report tracking and archival, assigning reference numbers, ensuring document integrity through scanning and proper naming conventions, and coordinating with the Comptroller's Office for delivery. * Serve as a liaison between the Finance Office and other departments (e.g., ID Badging, Comptroller's Office), ensuring smooth workflow, proper documentation, and timely financial processing. * Review financial statements and airline settlement reports, verifying accuracy of revenue allocations, identifying variances, and supporting the reconciliation process for year-end or periodic audits. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a directly related field with 15 semester hours in Accounting, plus three years of professional accounting experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, provided that the minimum degree requirement is met. NOTE: You must provide your degree/transcripts at the time of processing, if applicable. SELECTION REQUIREMENTS This position requires applicants to complete an interview. The interviewed candidate(s) possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the responsibilities of the position will be selected.
