We are seeking a leader in cybersecurity to help us securely prototype and implement complex National Security Systems in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Our multi-disciplinary team consists of algorithm developers, computer scientists, psychologists, systems engineers, and others who seek to reshape the future through end-to-end human systems and performance engineering. With us, you will develop solutions to bridge the gaps in human-machine warfighting teams in information-dense, high-stakes environments to revolutionize and operationalize warfighter-augmenting capabilities.

As a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer you will...

  • Identify critical challenges and functional solutions to advance Human-Machine Engineering prototyping
  • Build and drive our team's cybersecurity strategy through collaboration with technical software teams and our Security and IT Departments
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise to advise teams building cloud-based software products to ensure the right balance between rapid delivery and security
  • Help create and lead a team that will build advanced infrastructure to support our long-term vision of effective DevSecOps in both unclassified and classified computing environments
  • Propose and contribute to research and experiments in critical areas ranging from prototyping to software application design and building to warfighter engagement
  • Work across the organization to maximize efficiency and effectiveness and best technical practices to influence enterprise-level operations
  • Identify novel pathways to bring new technology into cybersecurity-constrained environments
  • Support documentation and Risk Management Framework activities

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a Masters in Computer Science, Cyber Engineering, Information Resource Management, or similar
  • Have 15+ years experience with cybersecurity for DoD applications
  • Have at least 3 years of experience with Cloud Computing and modern software development teams
  • Have the proven ability to work both independently and leading teams to make new technologies accessible both in secure settings and facilities
  • Have domain knowledge of Navy systems and threats and experience with related technology development
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have a passion for building team culture, driving innovation, and building/executing strategic initiatives
  • Possess a Top Secret clearance and are able to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Possess a PhD in a security-related field
  • Have 5+ years of formal leadership experience including project and program management
  • Have significant expertise with Human-Machine Engineering, psychology, human factors, or similar, in industry, DoD, or academia
  • Have experience with rapid design, development, testing, and delivery of prototype systems
  • Have a current Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) Certification

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
