Position Summary |
The University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking energetic, organized and detail-oriented applicants to join our Clinical Trials team as a Research Instructor. The incumbent will serve an ongoing research agenda in the area of outcomes following lower extremity injury and surgical repair and/or reconstruction. This includes scholarly activities such as grant submissions, abstract submissions, manuscript submissions and contributing to research missions of the department and university. Priorities will include development and oversight of a point of care research program in sports medicine including contributions and leadership in multi-site,
NIH funded clinical research in the area of outcomes following knee ligament (
ACL) reconstruction surgery. This position will work closely with clinical research staff, students, clinical faculty and clinical staff to support subject recruitment, screening and enrollment and regulatory oversight and leading data collection, entry and quality assurance. Strong communication skills across medical disciplines and ability to interface with an interdisciplinary research team are requisite. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
PhD in kinesiology, exercise science, biomechanics or related field with interest/expertise in lower extremity musculoskeletal injury, rehabilitation and outcomes. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Clinical background (ie PT,
ATC), Advanced competency with MS Office, database / entry interfaces (ie REDCap, medidata, etc). Experience and competence with electronic medical record (ie
EPIC). Prior experience with grant writing, submissions / awards. |
