GENERAL PURPOSE:

The CRA Attendant is responsible for the beautification, maintenance, and cleanliness of areas funded by the City of Winter Park Community Redevelopment Area (CRA). This includes the city rights-of-way, parks, streets, sidewalks, and some facilities in the designated geographic area. Work is performed under close supervision - the incumbent is assigned duties according to specified procedures and receives detailed instructions; work is reviewed frequently through observation, written reports, conferences, and adherence to established policies and procedures.


Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

NOTE: The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position or to reasonably accommodate individuals with disabilities.

Provides general janitorial and maintenance services in designated areas, including cleaning, sanitizing, vacuuming, and dusting offices and restrooms.

Prepares facilities for meetings, events, programs, and related functions; set up chairs, tables, podiums and other required furniture or fixtures; breaks down and cleans at conclusion.

Washes windows, empties trash cans, dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, and shelves.

Picks up and delivers supplies.

Collects and removes litter (including cigarette butts) and recyclable material from trash receptacles, City streets, and sidewalks.

Inspects, cleans, and removes debris or other miscellaneous items from trash receptacles and compactors, newspaper boxes, benches, light poles, kiosks, curb markings, City rights-of-way, sidewalks, and any other areas or facilities, as necessary.

Removes unauthorized signage and reports any damage or appearance issues to supervisor for evaluation and resolution.

Performs light landscaping and maintains grounds by removing leaves, limbs, paper, and other debris from exterior landscape, inspecting landscaped beds and potted plants, and trimming of shrubs and pulling weeds.

Assists with installation and removal of banners on City streets as scheduled.

Performs other work as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

General knowledge of occupational hazards, safety rules, and practices of the work.

General knowledge of cleaning materials.

General knowledge of landscaping and cleaning tools and the ability to properly use them.

General knowledge of departmental and municipal rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Ability to perform general custodial and landscaping tasks in an efficient and timely manner.

Ability to carry out assigned duties without continuous supervision.

Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, city officials, and the general public.

Ability to communicate information tactfully and impartially, both in person and in writing with all staff, city officials, and the general public.

Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the City of Winter Park Core Competencies.

Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and keep accurate records.

This position is performed with general knowledge - the incumbent is generally familiar with information contained in relevant source documents or information in a particular subject field; has ability to use relevant sources to obtain specific or supplemental information.


Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent; supplemented by one year of custodial experience and computer skills for maintaining records.

An equivalent combination of education, training and experience, which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies required for the position may be considered.

CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

NOTE:All certifications must be current at the time of application, and must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License, Class E or higher.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Physical

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force repetitively to lift, carry, push, pull, and reposition objects.

Ability to traverse about a variety of environments and obstacles throughout the city, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Ability to ascend/descend stairs, scaffolds, and ladders.

Ability to remain stationary at jobsites for extended periods of time and repetitively operate related equipment for repairs/maintenance.

Ability to manipulate objects, demonstrate small, precise movements, and operate necessary equipment such as small hand and power tools repetitively or continuously.

Environmental

Tasks may require frequent exposure to adverse environmental conditions including inclement weather, sun, extreme temperatures, odors, dirt and dust, loud noises, and hazardous chemicals, etc.

Sensory

Tasks require the manipulation of objects and demonstration of small, precise movements, the ability to detect and distinguish various features of one's surroundings, and the ability to effectively communicate and exchange information with others.
