Requirements

The School of Medicine is heir to the long and rich Catholic and Jesuit tradition of caring for the sick. From its inception, Georgetown has been committed to the pursuit of knowledge in service of the community. The Georgetown medical experience is centered in "cura personalis" - care for the psychological, spiritual, social as well as physical well being of the person. It lays the groundwork for the intellectual and ethical formation of physician healers committed to the clinically competent care of and the well being of their patients and dedicated to the health needs of the underserved in our society.

The Educational Coordinator supports the daily planning and implementation of the curriculum across the 4-year M.D. degree program at the School of Medicine (SOM). They are responsible for assigning modules, courses, and other elements critical to the successful execution and advancement of the M.D. curriculum. Having an integral and collaborative role in curricular planning and coordination, the Educational Coordinator has additional duties that include, but are not limited to:
  • Serve as one of seven curricular support staff within the Office of Medical Education.
  • Given the robust and evolving nature of the M.D. curriculum, analyze and respond to unique curricular and logistical challenges and requirements related to School of Medicine, national accreditation, and faculty/leadership needs and priorities.
  • Work closely with medical students, faculty, and staff in the administrative function of curriculum implementation, evaluation, & development.
  • Contribute to logistical, pedagogical, and technological innovation.


Work Interactions

The Office of Medical Education serves as the central office responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and advancement of the M.D. degree program curriculum. The office has direct oversight and coordination of pre-clinical education, in addition to clinical education through partnership with our affiliate clinical sites. The Educational Coordinator, together with six other pre-clinical and clinical curricular support staff within the Office of Medical Education, is supervised by the Assistant Dean for Curriculum Management. These seven individuals are responsible for distributing and implementing the four-years of medical education to over 800 medical students.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Individual is expected to be familiar with a professional setting and comfortable learning and exploring new software/equipment and curricular facilitation tools
  • Must be a team player, organized, possess strong time-management and communication skills, and be comfortable following-through on assignments and responsibilities with minimal oversight


Preferred Qualifications
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or degree in curriculum, learning, project/program management, or similar
  • Experience working with educators, learners, and education support staff
  • Experience in customer service, coordination, Canvas (or other LMS), and medical education highly desirable

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:
$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University's business needs and external factors.
