What is the opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to join RBC's Wealth Planning Associate program designed for experienced professionals with a passion for financial planning and client engagement. As a key member of the team, you'll work closely with top-performing advisors and their HNW and UHNW clients to deliver a consistent, holistic, and goals-based planning experience.

This position offers the chance to make an immediate impact by serving as a planning leader within the team, with a focus on leading planning conversations, collaborating with internal partners, and delivering high-touch service to advisors and clients. It's an ideal role for someone looking to deepen their expertise, expand their influence, and accelerate their path toward becoming a financial advisor at RBC.

Principle responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive, goals-based financial planning support to advisors and their clients, with a focus on holistic wealth strategies.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert and coach for planning conversations, tools, and best practices within the team.

  • Partner with financial advisors to proactively identify planning opportunities and deepen client relationships through meaningful planning conversations.

  • Collaborate with internal partners (e.g., wealth strategists, insurance specialists) to provide integrated planning solutions.

  • Stay current on planning trends, tax law changes, and regulatory developments impacting clients and planning delivery.

  • Lead or support training efforts for advisors and team members on planning tools, case studies, and planning strategies.

  • Demonstrate expertise in cash flow analysis, retirement planning, income protection, insurance, and tax strategies.

  • Understand and communicate the benefits of engaging clients in a goals-based relationship, drive productivity by using best-in-class tools to deliver an exceptional client experience, and along with the financial advisor, provide comprehensive wealth management advice to existing client base while attracting new clients. This will include conducting discovery conversations, talking through wealth plan results, illustrating solutions and conducting client reviews. The foundation of knowledge and skills you acquire as a WPA will differentiate you in the marketplace as a true wealth manager and prepare you for a successful career as a financial advisor or your next role within the RBC Team.

Must-have qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with emphasis in personal finance preferred

  • 5+ years of financial planning or closely related experience in the financial services industry, preferably with a broker-dealer or other large financial advisory firm

  • Securities, Advisory and insurance licensed required (SIE, Series 7, Series 66)

  • One of the accredited wealth designations (CFP, CPA, CIMA, CPWA) or ability to obtain within two years of start date

  • Exemplary in communication, presentation, time-management and organizational skills

  • Proficient at listening to client needs, and then be capable of skillful construction of tailored financial solutions

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. without durational restrictions

  • Successful completion of background check and pre-employment assessments

  • Knowledge of Money Guide Pro preferred but not required

The expected salary range for this particular position is $80,000-$135,000, depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.
