*Description*
This role will report to the Communications Manager and drive progress by tracking and executing on program and change related communications. A successful candidate has experience as a strong doer, someone who can immediately contribute to the tactical execution of comms plans and tactics. Experience in higher education or public sector communications (or demonstrated ability to learn a new industry quickly) is preferred. In this role, the Communications Specialist will support a variety of communications needs, including managing progress against the communications plan and developing content for internal and external communications. This position will have a unique opportunity to support planning and execution of writing for web, in-person, email, and intranet, as well as project office development and administration. The individual will gain experience in a variety of strategic communications and change management projects. In addition, the role will include event planning and some project coordination duties as assigned. The Project Team operates as a hybrid team. There is flexibility for what hybrid looks like, however there will be on-site participation based on the job requirements. Ideally this would be a local candidate in the Twin Cities area who can commute into the office 1 day/week or a remote candidate who is willing to travel to MN at least 4 times per year *Skills* Writing skills, Digital marketing, Communications management *Additional Skills & Qualifications* Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in planning and organizing internal events that support department-wide communications and knowledge sharing. * Interest and experience in change management and continuous improvement. * Experience in developing compelling and effective short-form content. * Ability to thrive and meet deadlines in a hybrid work environment. * Experience using creativity and problem-solving in communications development. * Experience in developing content strategy and website usability concepts. * Experience in simplifying technical content without sacrificing accuracy. * Experience with digital accessibility, including writing and making content accessible electronically. * Experience with best practices in communications measurement to inform recommendations to colleagues. * Familiar with mass email systems, such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud. * Proficient in design and photo editing software, such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.), and Acrobat Pro, as well as content management systems. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
