Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated and experienced professional for an Adult Protective Services Supervisor position. The successful candidate will join the Adult and Aging Unit within the Department of Family Services which envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. Job Summary

Under the direction of a Program Manager serving with a peer supervisory team, this position provides leadership and oversight of the Adult and Aging Services program. The person hired for this position will work from our Sterling office and may work from other locations as needed. Typical hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, although the work requires flexibility to meet the needs of the community.

Core responsibilities:

  • Supervise a team of Senior and Family Services Specialists responsible for the Loudoun County Companion Program and conducting Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) screenings. This position will also supervise the Adult and Aging Unit Case Aide and Community Outreach Liaison.
  • Ensure timely investigations of adult abuse, neglect, or exploitation reports during business hours, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays, as scheduled, using strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Provide 24/7 crisis intervention and emergency response for older adults and adults with impairments in imminent-risk situations.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures related to investigations, assessments, and documentation.
  • Review documentation and electronic case records for accuracy, completeness, clarity, and policy compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal and external agency partners to identify service gaps and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Identify, develop, and maintain community resources and services to support client needs.
  • Manage and oversee the Loudoun County Companion Program Contract; monitor and approve budgets for purchased client services.
  • Conduct quarterly informal staff reviews and annual performance appraisals, address staff performance concerns promptly and constructively.
  • Respond to and resolve client, customer, and consumer complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through data analysis and outcome measurement.
  • Provide or support community-wide crisis and emergency interventions as assigned.

    Salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required, with major coursework in a Human Services field preferred; AND, four (4) years of directly related experience in a human services area to include one (1) year of supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or related field or directly related discipline and bilingual English and Spanish language capacities.

Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Pass pre-employment background checks including criminal, credit, DMV, and CPS/APS checks. Valid driver's license (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Hold or obtain certifications preferred by the Department. Complete required County e-learning and MOAT training requirements as directed by department. Complete required supervisory training.
