- Oversee the installation and lifecycle management of Public and Private IP routers and switches across multiple Tier 1 networks.
- Collaborate with highly technical organizations to address operational, architectural and financial concerns as they relate to the IP Network.
- Present and explain technical concepts to non-technical stake holders in a clear and concise manner.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues such as routing problems, fiber cuts, IP addressing conflicts and power failures.
- Apply best practices in engineering projects to meet financial obligations while maintaining network architecture and protection schemes
- Formulate comprehensive 3-5 year strategies for the design, deployment, and capacity management of the network to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
- Blend technical, organizational, and financial aspects into valid business solutions pulling from a level of knowledge which encompasses company, technology, and industry.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Identify systematic gaps with internal processes and applications to develop and implement solutions
- Requires limited direction and guidance and largely works independently
- Identifies and champions change, new technology, applications, processes, and systems to align and enhance business priorities
- Acts as team lead supporting prioritization of projects, project distribution and assignments, reporting on performance and production values
- Analyzes complex local and wide area network systems and/or customer network environment, including planning, designing, evaluating, selecting operating systems and protocol suites, and configuring communication media with concentrators, bridges, and other devices.
Required Experience:
- Strong understanding of routing and switching technologies including OSPF, ISIS, BGP, EIGRP, MPLS, and static routing.
- Experience in managing the design, capacity, and single points of failure in large IP networks.
- Knowledge of network security protocols such as VPNs, DDos protection/Avoidance, firewall filters etc.
- Some experience working with scripting and automation.
