Senior Electrical Designer

Merrick & Company is looking for an experienced Senior Designer to work on Electrical Untility Distributio Design for our growing San Antonio, TX office. This office specializes in Local and Federal electrical design projects including medium voltage power distribution, gas distribution, and facility electrical systems. This is a full-time position.

Hourly pay range for this position is $40.00 - $52.00. Pay offered may vary depending on job related knowledge, existing credentials, skills, and experience.

• Conceptual and detailed design / documentation of medium voltage power distribution including 15kV and 35kV of overhead and/or underground lines, service transformers, and electrical service to industrial, commercial and residential properties.
• Utilize knowledge of the CPS Energy standards, NESC, or other utility's standards.
• Field investigations and construction support requiring experience with 15kV and 35kV design for overhead and underground systems, NEC as applicable for over 1000V design.
• Perform electrical calculations, electrical system design and documentation under the supervision of PE licensed engineers.
• Construction administration which will include As-Built drawing review, site inspection, and site investigation report production for overhead and underground systems.

• Eight (8) years minimum of overhead, underground or combination.
• Eight (8) years of experience using ArcGIS or other design software-based drawing generation.
• Knowledge of BIM software - REVIT and AutoCAD.
• Experience using electrical calculation tools including SKM Power Tools, SKM Ground Mat, and lighting design software such as AGi32.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
• Experience using technical codes: NESC, NEC, ISA, IEEE Regulatory Codes.
• Candidates must pass a background check given criteria set by the client.
• Ability to periodically report to client sites for work and / or training.
• Client projects for this position require US Citizenship.

• Experience with CPS Energy or other electric utility design projects.
• Credentials to perform GIS work for San Antonio utilities highly desired.
• Design software and knowledge of GIS systems.
• Local candidates strongly preferred.
• Associates degree or technical college certification is preferred.
