Brief Description:

The Field Maintenance Foreman (FMF) is field focused and serves as the first line supervisor for the field service technicians providing maintenance support to operational rigs. The FMF is expected to have a close working relationship with the operations team including superintendents and rig managers and to proactively assist in reducing non-productive time and maintenance costs. The FMF meets work objectives via Company and when necessary, third-party technicians. The FMF is expected to spend appropriate time in the field supervising the field service technicians and engaging in quality control reviews.

Detailed Description:



  • Maintain an appropriate level of critical spare inventory to support field operations
  • Conduct equipment downtime and damage investigations as required and submit failure analysis reports as needed
  • Receive all maintenance requests from field and assign resources based on priority in support of overall operations
  • Coordinate parts and equipment delivery for onsite maintenance
  • Develop response plan approved by Regional Maintenance Supervisor (RMS) and execute plan in coordination with Operations Group
  • Provide timely reports on all field repairs with estimated time of completions, providing expected delivery times on parts requiring onsite delivery for repair completion, and labor status to include technician arrival times and estimated work hours
  • Coordinate proper utilization of third-party contractors and service through the RMS
  • Coordinate equipment transfers through the Equipment & Yard Supervisor
  • Supervise field maintenance personnel on a daily basis to provide work order assignments and required materials for work order completion with goal of minimal backlog
  • Coordinate transfer of repair work with Repair Shop Foreman when repairs escalate from technical level to depot level repair while following asset transfer protocol
  • Provide input for the RMS to evaluate and review maintenance personnel as necessary
  • Review maintenance personnel assignments for work order quality and follow-up with performance improvement in the form of SMART action plans
  • Supervise maintenance personnel quality of life issues and third-party utilization
  • Ensure maintenance personnel are performing all work actions in accordance with Company standards to include safety, conduct, and proper use of company resources
  • Schedule and provide technical training related to operational and technical levels of maintenance
  • Identify training needs required in the field operations and assist in developing training material as required
  • Ensure competency of technicians performing training and providing on-the-job instruction
  • Provide day to day guidance, direction and management to assigned Field Service Technicians
  • All other duties as assigned


Job Requirements:



  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to interact productively with coworkers and third parties
  • Knowledge of oil and gas field components, including software and hardware, technical drawings and schematics
  • Willingness and availability to be on call beyond regularly scheduled work hours
  • Strong computer skills within MSOffice (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point)
  • Effectively lead, manage, and develop technicians and other staff to drive individual performance goals and ensure overall performance aligns with Company standards

Minimum Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years' relevant work experience
  • Eligible to drive company vehicle and meet requirements of Company's Vehicle Use Agreement Driving Policy


Preferred Qualifications



  • 1+ years of experience in a supervisory or leadership position or has demonstrated exemplary leadership traits
  • Technical training or advanced education in a relevant vocational field
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic service experience
  • Electrical service experience


Additional Details:

This position must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
