Cleveland Brothers, the largest Cat dealer in Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and western Maryland, has an immediate opportunity for a Yard Supervisor.

Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., Inc., your local Caterpillar dealership, is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our growing team of established and successful professionals.

Position Summary:

The Yard Supervisor will oversee and coordinate the daily activities within the company's equipment yard. This role involves managing inventory, supervising yard staff, ensuring safety and compliance, and maintaining efficient operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in yard management, equipment handling, and leadership. Must be able to effectively communicate any issues or questions to management and peers. Cleveland Brothers will be dependent on the Yard Supervisor to prepare and ensure quality of equipment for customers. This individual must be open to potential overtime and occasional weekend call-ins.

Primary Responsibilities:



  1. Yard Management:

    • Supervise daily yard operations, including the organization and storage of equipment and materials.
    • Ensure the proper handling, maintenance, and inspection of all equipment in the yard.
    • Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy.





  • Fill out accurate shipping and receiving paperwork and follow all procedures listed in the shipping and receiving handbook.
  • Prepare equipment to customer specifications before shipping.
  • Maintain a clean and organized yard environment.
  • Able to work productively in an industrial environment that is subject to significant work conditions.
  • Able to operate forklift and rental equipment for loading and unloading of parts and/or equipment.




  1. Team Supervision:

    • Lead, train, and motivate yard staff to achieve high performance and safety standards.
    • Schedule and assign tasks to yard personnel, ensuring that work is completed efficiently and on time.
    • Provide ongoing feedback and performance evaluations to staff members.


  2. Safety and Compliance:

    • Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and company policies.
    • Conduct regular safety inspections and address any hazards or issues promptly.
    • Ensure that all yard equipment and machinery are maintained and serviced regularly.


  3. Customer and Vendor Relations:

    • Coordinate with customers and vendors regarding equipment pickup, delivery, and returns.
    • Address customer inquiries and resolve any issues related to yard operations.


  4. Administrative Duties:

    • Prepare and maintain reports on yard activities, inventory levels, and staff performance.
    • Assist with budgeting and expense tracking related to yard operations.


  5. Process Improvement:

    • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity in the yard.
    • Stay updated on industry best practices and incorporate relevant practices into yard operations.




Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree in business management, logistics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in yard supervision or a related role, preferably in an equipment or machinery setting.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in equipment handling.
  • Proficiency in using inventory management systems and basic computer applications.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Capable of operating yard machinery and equipment safely.
