POSITION SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Controls engineer who, with guidance from the VP Engineering and Senior Electrical Engineering staff, designs control systems, develops panel layouts and wiring schematics, PLC, PC and/or HMI programs, power diagrams and calculations.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

With the guidance of the VP Engineering and Senior Electrical Engineering staff, is responsible for designing and estimating unit load conveyor and storage systems and overseeing the installation and turnover of those systems by execution of the following:



  • Plans, schedules, conducts and coordinates the detailed activities of the assigned engineering work; after analyzing the system specifications and gaining a complete understanding of the project requirements in the areas of electrical equipment and design.
  • Correctly selects equipment and suppliers to successfully fulfill all project or assignment requirements.
  • Participates, coordinates or prepares the technical content, schedule, electrical equipment lists, electrical installation, basis of quote, and overall pricing for proposals.
  • Maintains up-to-date and complete project files.
  • Participates, prepares or coordinates the release of all forms required to obtain the schedule, electrical and controls equipment, electrical installation, spare parts lists and maintenance manuals for assigned tasks.
  • Participates and/or assists in areas of concepting, written communications, total electrical pricing and project "estimates to complete."
  • Provides engineering and support for proposal development
  • Implements orders and manages electrical installation subcontractor agreements.
  • Learns all aspects of material handling technology and associated controls to keep our Company positioned as a leader in the material handling industry.
  • Evaluates and prepares recommendations for ways to reduce costs in the areas of engineering, equipment, controls and installation.
  • Assist in the training of new hires in the areas of Company and departmental procedures, drawing standards, and routine electrical engineering applications.
