What you'll do: The Accounting Manager plays a critical leadership role in the Company's financial operations by overseeing key functions within the Accounting and Finance team and driving continuous process and efficiency improvements. This role blends hands-on operational responsibilities with strategic initiatives and requires close collaboration with the North America (NA) organization and Group Finance. In partnership with the AR/AP Manager, the Accounting Manager supports the Controller in leading the NA Finance team and ensuring alignment across financial processes, reporting, and team development. As a leadership role, the Accounting Manager is expected to take full ownership of the team's performance and development, both strategically and operationally. This includes setting a clear direction, aligning team goals with organizational objectives, and ensuring effective execution of daily operations. The role requires a proactive approach to leadership, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance team. As an Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for: Manage the Accounting team. Included in management duties are: providing overall leadership and strategic and operational direction, assisting the employee in troubleshooting job related issues as they arise, assisting the employee with everything related to their employment, hiring new colleagues, training and onboarding of new team members to career development and addressing disciplinary needs.
Hold regular 1:1 with the members of the team to develop and engage a future proof Accounting team:
Lead and influence, while building competencies, trust, and alignment within the team. Future-proof the organization in terms of structure and competencies. Lead, motivate and develop the Accounting team and secure the required competencies for the team. Follow the company's processes for feedback and appraisal conversations.
Own the continuous improvement of accounting processes, ensuring strong internal controls, automation opportunities, and compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards. Lead the external audit process. Act as the primary contact for external auditors and ensures timely and accurate completion of audits and statutory reporting. Direct the month-end close process by coordinating cross-functional tasks, ensuring timely completion in line with close deadlines, preparing and reviewing key accrual calculations, and approving journal entries and account reconciliations. Ensure reporting complies with GAAP. Act as a back up to the team when needed. Assist the Controller in assessing internal controls, suggesting changes, and implementing changes as needed. Work closely together with the Group Finance and the Local Finance function. Meet with members of the Finance Department to understand current processes and to suggest and implement process changes to promote efficiency as well as accuracy. Perform various other tasks as assigned.
Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance 5+ years of relevant experience ideally gained through positions of increasing responsibility (public accounting in conjunction with industry experience preferred) Prior management experience required Certified Public Account is highly preferred Strong written and report presentation skills Excellent verbal communication skills Effective interpersonal, collaboration, and teaming skills Hands-on experience with ERP and accounting reporting systems. Microsoft D365 experience a plus High proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
