Full-Time/Regular STGi is currently seeking an Activity Director to provide services at our Texas State Veterans Home. The William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home is located in Temple, TX. Our staff provides compassionate and specialized care to our nation's veterans. We focus on providing the best experience for residents and their families. JOB SUMMARY: To support the planning and implementation of an activity program, in order to meet the individual needs of residents in the community, in accordance with state, federal, VA and STGi guidelines. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Complete monthly calendars to reflect community programs. 2. Assess and complete the sections of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) assigned completely, timely and accurately. 3. Use the resident assessment protocols (RAPs) to determine whether to proceed to care planning for concerns related to a resident's activity program needs. 4. Identify and document in the resident's care plan, the activity interests, needs, and concerns of the resident. Care plans are reviewed and updated as necessary but at least quarterly. 5. Document all interaction with resident and/or family in the assessment, care plan and progress notes as required by federal and state requirements. 6. Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team 7. Plan and assist facilitating Residents' Council meetings. 8. Plan and implement evening, weekend and holiday functions as necessary. 9. Take part in in-service education programs and attend all in-service session relating to Activity Program. 10. Recruit, schedule and supervise assistants and volunteers. 11. Organize and schedule community events related to residents' interests. 12. Supervise barber and beauty parlor activities. 13. Plan, schedule and implement room visits and in-room activities for residents unable to leave their rooms. 14. Plan, schedule and implement indoor and outdoor activity programs. 15. Plan and conduct activity programs to assist residents to return to the community. 16. Maintain an electronic activity attendance record for each resident. 17. Assess needs and maintain an adequate supply of materials to implement activity programs. 18. Be responsible for the safety of residents under his/her supervision. 19. Assume accountability for data contained in the Team Members' handbook. 20. Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality. 21. Consistently work cooperatively with residents, residents' representatives, Community staff, physicians and ancillary service providers. 22. Adhere to break, meal and clock in/out procedures. 23. Take the food handler certification. 24. Plan, schedule and implement a program of individual and group activities based on residents' interest. 25. Ensure all required documentation is complete, accurate and timely. 26. Lead activity staff in meeting acceptable performance levels by establishing goals, educating, and providing accountability. 27. Participate as an active member of the interdisciplinary team. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Current certification as a Certified Activity Director required. Required Experience
REQUIRED EDUCATION: High school diploma or GED and Current certification as a Certified Activity Director required. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The physical demands and work environment described herein is a representative of those that generally must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: * This position primarily involves standing, walking, twisting, reaching, bending/stooping, pushing and pulling (typical weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 30 lbs., approximately), and lifting (minimum weight of 5 lbs. and maximum weight of 30 lbs., approximately). * The position requires repetitive finger movements as well as hearing and talking on the phone and in person. * Must be able to continuously deal effectively with stress created by residents, multiple tasks, noises, interruptions, and work cooperatively as part of the health care team while maintaining a pleasant attitude.
