Foodservice Associate's will be assigned various areas of responsibility or tasks and required to follow standard operating procedures for those area(s) and maintain a clean working environment. Duties may vary based on which Foodservice Associate positions are offered.

Food Service Associate works at food counters helping prepare food, take orders, serve customers, clean and maintain kitchen and serving areas.


Essential Functions

1. Maintain and uphold the College values of Learning, Excellence, Accountability, Diversity, Student Success, Teamwork, Integrity, and Respect. Regular attendance is required.
2. Perform office function's which may include but are not limited to: respond to internal/external customers and staff; create and modify documents, records, and reports using College standard software; maintain hard copy and/or electronic filing system; monitor inventory and budget information; schedule, coordinate, and prepare materials for meetings and/or appointments.
3. Complete all required College training and responsible for maintaining the skills necessary to complete the essential functions of the position as defined by the department.
4. Student Success is the cornerstone of Western's culture, and the college may assign employees as needed to other areas or additional duties to foster this success.
5. Chops Stir Fry Cook:
Stir-fry cooks are responsible for opening the station each day, making rice, and stocking products, preparing portioned foods for stir-fry orders, taking stir-fry orders, maintaining a clean working environment, and serving whatever the chef's special is for the day. On Monday's the opener is responsible for preparing and serving the Chops Express special
6. Erbert's and Gerbert's Line Worker:
Erbert's and Gerbert's line workers are responsible for following the franchise specifications for product preparation and service including preparing the make table products, making sandwiches, taking orders on the I-pad, being able to work the Burrito line, filling out the product day planner sheets, and maintaining a clean working environment
7. Burrito Line Worker:
Burrito Line workers are responsible for stocking products, preparing products, serving customers, and maintaining a clean working environment. Burrito line workers must also be trained and able to work in the Erbert's and Gerbert's franchise sandwich line
8. Cashier:
Union Market Cashiers are responsible for taking cards, cash, and making change, navigating the POS register for each area, refilling the Grab-n-go cooler with items prepared in the kitchen, and stocking and maintaining clean beverage, soup, cash stand, and salad bar areas
9. Deep Fry/Grill Cook (assistant):
Deep Fryer and Grill Cooks are responsible for cooking deep fried and grilled products to the specifications set by management, filling the hot food slider with food items to the set daily par, assisting the line/lead opener of the Hubs station with product stocking, cleaning, and preparation
10. Pizza Cook:
Pizza Cooks are responsible for making pizzas from start to finish, re-stocking products used in the station, using the deep fryer when necessary, baking side dishes in the oven, serving customers, assisting with the chef special station, and maintaining a clean working environment.

11. Catering Assistant:
Catering assistants are responsible for helping the Lunda Center staff set up dining table layouts and buffets, transport food items from the Production Kitchen to the Lunda Center, assist in preparing catering food items, bussing, and washing dishes, and serving tables or buffet lines according to the event. Occasionally more hours can be obtained by learning positions at the Union Market.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Starting hourly pay: $14.00
