We are seeking a dedicated Electronic Warfare Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience and/or interest in RF and EW testing and a willingness to learn new skills.

As a KAB Electronic Warfare Technician, you will....

  • Actively contribute to technical projects within the group.
  • Use prior working knowledge of communications-related test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers, to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues.
  • Maintain electronic warfare and RF labs and facilities, ensure proper maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, and compliance with security protocols.
  • Work with complex systems of antennas, RF front ends, and signal processing equipment.
  • Participate in laboratory and field testing by providing logistical and organizational support for systems under test including coordinating Bills of Materials (BOMs), checkout of field test hardware, and shipping documentation.
  • Work with engineers to design, assemble, fabricate, debug, and repair electrical mechanical systems.
  • Have a working knowledge of computers, and have the ability to operate low-level custom test software from both graphical user interfaces and command line interfaces.
  • Assist in the procurement of electrical components and spare parts as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and the institute's protocols.
  • Apply engineering principles, under the direction of engineering staff, in designing, testing, reporting, and repairing electro-mechanical systems and documenting results using commonly used computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Have strong organizational skills and experience as a coordinator or facilitator.
  • Have demonstrated ability and willingness to multi-task across several projects and work independently.
  • Interact effectively with individuals of different experience levels and backgrounds.

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications if you...

  • Have at least a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Have relevant experience as a technician, as military or in other relevant domains.
  • Have an understanding of electronics and computer equipment.
  • Can document results using commonly used computer software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Have the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and possess strong interpersonal, speaking, and technical writing skills.
  • Are willing and able to occasionally travel and work extended hours in support of technical tasks.
  • Hold an active Secret security clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license. The selected candidate will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record check.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Hold a degree, certification, or other experience that would be beneficial to your role as an EW technician.
  • Have experience with field testing and logistics such as security, shipping, hazardous materials (lithium batteries), frequency authorization, etc.
  • Have experience with documenting property and managing equipment calibration using tools such as PEMS and/or eQuip.
  • Have experience with writing computer scripting.
  • Have experience with using the Linux operating system.
  • Are willing and able to travel to test locations in the desert, mountains, and/or oceans for 10% of your time and can lift over 50 lbs.

The referenced pay range is based on JHU APL's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level with consideration for internal parity. For salaried employees scheduled to work less than 40 hours per week, annual salary will be prorated based on the number of hours worked. APL may offer bonuses or other forms of compensation per internal policy and/or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be provided in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, locality allowance or discretionary payments for exceptional performance. APL provides eligible staff with a comprehensive benefits package including retirement plans, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, flexible spending accounts, education assistance, and training and development.
